October 2017 mummies :-)

Morning all,

Just caught up on all the 'gossip'! I started to think a lot about my birthing plan at the weekend actually, last time I wanted a water birth as baths really helped with back pain during the pregnancy but Jackson's meconium (can't spell) came out first, I wasnt warned that I should be in water so I had a bath thinking I would be clean when I went to hospital and the midwife and doctors had a right go at me about how I could have caused an infection and serious damage to Jackson so the whole labour I was a mess! Ended up having an epidural after 19 hours and then he arrived 27 hours after that. His big head was stuck in my pelvis so I was cut and I tore and am with you on the pain there, plus the burning when you finally have the catheter out and have to go natural! But as you say, I am having another and am not scared about the birth just as long as my boy is healthy and fine then pain is pain, it goes! x I am going to try and opt for a water birth though this time, that will be in my plan! Can the men cut the cord still, I thought that all stopped?

We bought our travel system the weekend, seems really scary and am just hoping I haven't jinxed it, but my mum wanted to buy us it and she was down for the weekend before flying back to Portugal for 2 months so we wanted her to be with us to pick it, but now I have the dilemma of when it arrives do I listen to old wives tales and not allow it across the threshold until after baby is born or ignore it and store it at home??

I am hopinf to breastfeed, I remember with Jackson I was that exhausted after 3 days labour that I gave him a bottle they gave me in the hospital but they don't do that now so I plan to take in some ready made bottles from the supermarket and my boobies :) and hope that all will be well! x

My poor cousin is due this Sunday and has fallen and broken her ankle! She wanted a home water birth but has to see the specialist tomorrow to see if they will remove her cast so she can do it :( She has been doing hypnobirthing so is going to let me know how that goes when the time comes so I will feed back the results :) x

Good luck today Allysa :D

Ohh, we also looked at the travel system we are buying :) can't wait to get it to feel like we are actually getting things done. We have a travel cot and some baby vests. I feel so behind :(

22 weeks today! Bump has gone waaaay down...havent seen myself looking this slim for ages! Baby must be hiding :)

So excited to see more scan pics!!! X

Well I started to have a panic attack on Saturday when the internet said I will be starting my 6th month this week (apparently between 22 and 26 weeks is your 6th month) so I felt so unorganised and I wanted to make sure that I spread the costs over the next few months before I start maternity as then it is big penny pinching to get as much time off as I can..... So I bought things like the change mat, the kits with thermometers and scissors etc, some clothing, baby grows, the hospital outfit, then next month want to get the cot, wardrobe and drawers am just panicking now that I am being too organised and jinxing it!!

With my first I had nearly everything bought by now and the travel system ordered. I haven't even looked at prams this time! It's embarrassing how unorganised I am and really scary when I think we only have 4 more pay days to get it all sorted eep!

I don't really have any 'stuff' yet, but I'm really hoping that in the 2 weeks that my hubby is home we can decide what we want and either buy or order the big stuff. My mum is going to buy the travel system so that's ace. Saying that, my cousin has a 7month old little girl and she's just been and dropped off a load of bags of clothes........ I'm excited to delve in!

I am very fortunate to have excellent maternity pay. I get 6 months full pay, but want to save as much as i can for the shortfall afterwards.

Heyy everyone! Came back earlier from my scan. Excited to say all is well so far, baby boy confirmed 100% :D
I had to go for a walk during scan and made me ''Wiggle '' a couple of times as the baby was lying on his tummy with face down and the sonographer couldn't take de heart measurements. He was restless ans poor lady said it is hard to catch up as he moves so much. So far she said everything looks good ! Unfortunately she couldn't get any good pics because of his position..:(

Now I start to feel unprepared! All I have is a couple of sleeping suits ! House is not sorted yet and I try hard not to panic. I really like the Joolz and Icandy Peach prams but they are a bit expensive so my other option is a Black Icandy Strawberry which is a bit more affordable.

I 'll try to upload a scan pic later but is not very clear

xx

Yay, Allysa, so pleased everything was fine.
I know what you mean about being unprepared. As soon as hubby is back our joint account will get a beating! I want to get a cot bed (decided on that as the room is big enough to take it and it will hopefully save money in the long run) and a chest of drawers ordered. Then time to hit kiddicare and test drive travel systems, then buy all the extra bits. I'm just trying to hold in the excitement for a few more days....but its really difficult xx

My baby boy

My husband cut the cord October 2014 so not sure if they have stopped it since then?
I still need to go through the stuff I have and what I need to get and feel so behind but need to de clutter the house with all my boys stuff and decorate sonwaiting until that's done

I'm pretty sure they can still cut the cord. All the stuff I've read says its your choice, obvs unless there's a medical emergency issue. I've told my husband I want him to. He wasn't overly keen but I said that if I'm giving birth to it he's at least going to get over himself and cut the cord!

Yaaaay Allysa! Lovely scan picture. Good to hear all is well.

I will be picking things up when I see them from now on...instead of saying to myself I'll wait.

I have got no energy today. Like I am completely exhausted. Hope I'm just having an off day.....thought I had got over the tiredness part :(

I think we still get to decide who cuts cord? I am going to speak to OH and add it into my birth preferences

Ohhh I would love to rummage through those bags!!! Hope you have some good bits to choose from :)

I feel you on the tiredness Olivia, I had a busy day yesterday and was absolutely exhausted by bedtime but I just could not sleep at all! I got in bed at 10 and didn't sleep til past 2.30am which has left me even more tired and grumpy today :(

My husband said he didn't want to cut the cord and look down in that area and he did both lol

My OH wants to cut the cord as well so hopefully they will let him if all goes well. I told him tough that I don't want him to look down there as I am sure he will faint lol

After busy Mondays I need at least 2 days to recover , feeling the tiredness as well

Morning, will speak to OH about cutting the cord then, I couldn't last time due to the baby doctors rushing Jackson away to check him so would be nice :)

I have finally finished decorating my front room, so that is nursery and front room all done now, just need carpet for the nursery and then I will buy the cot bed, I am a complete excel list queen so I have everything written down and all internet links embedded lol so I am prepared!!

What do you think of the room?

Nice. I'm guessing living room and not nursery?! Haha.
I am so jealous of your lists and preparedness. I really need to stop being lazy and get moving on all this. Everything I do I am worried I am going to jinx it, and I cant believe I am over halfway. Must. Get. More. Motivated! x

I am terrified of jinxing it but I think after 24 weeks (as that is then classed as viable if I went into labour as scary as that is) I have to be prepared, therefore that is 2 weeks away, plus I am trying to do bits with each pay packet so that when I finish work it is not a big hit? I am lucky I get 6 months full pay but I need to try and put some away each month to cover me to have as long as I can after that off, ideally a year but don't think I will have the money!

I bought quite a bit in sales, so I got the back to nature set that does the milk heating and bottle stuff, I want to BF but when I had Jackson I had mastitus (can't spell) after 6 weeks and it was agony and scared me off it, but I will try again....

Exciting day today. Hubby is on his way home (but will take all day) and I'm getting my hair done at last. Not sure which I'm more excited about!! Ha x
