Well I had my MW appointment today and was all ready to go in sulking as it wasn't my usual MW and was the one I didn't like that I had with my son. Anyway as soon as I hobbled in and told her the problem she said it was SPD so it was as I suspected from ages ago. She was really nice about it and I started feeling guilty for thinking nasty thoughts about her!!!!

So she phoned straight through to the physio department and sent me doen there and ive managed to get an appointment for Monday. I was very impressed at this as everyone else on here seems to have had to have waited for ages. I think they're going to give me a belt thingy which the MW said was not very attractive ut to be honest, I don't care as long as it helps. I feel like i'm walking like ive wet myself at the moment and its not a good look!

So SPD sufferers, any advice you can give to help would be lovely and also, will paracetamol help because i forgot to ask the MW???

Have taken the day off today and told them I might not be in Monday so am going to try and relax and watch daytime tv - yippee!

I had SPD with both mine but it was worse with Jack, i had to go to the doctors about mine and he gave really strong ibruprofen for it, my midiwfe told me you can take shop bought cocodamol (low dose) but get someone else to get it as they won't serve you pregnant, but it is absolutely fine to take.

Physio will tell you not to push heavy shopping trolleys, not to push children's trolleys if you can help it, try not to hoover, all this puts extra strain and pressure on your pelvis.

Hope that helped

my bloody midwife keeps telling my she has FORGOT to refer me!!

I am past caring now because i dont think the physio can tell me anything i dont already know from the website!! haha

I just have a hobble along and deal with it, thankfully its not TOO bad if i am at home and i left work in two weeks!!!! xxxxx

The physio gave me a perching stood so i could sit rather than stand while doing the washing up, cooking etc. A shoe horn and a support belt for when the bump got heavier.

It did help.

I am still suffering with my hips now, they never went right after having Amy so i think thats why they were so bad with Jack.

Oh, wish I hadn't read that. I know it's only been 4 weeks since I had Jamie but thought my spd would have faded away completely by now, it hasn't & still can't walk very far (doing my head in :( ) I'm now praying that future pregnancies aren't worse

Tan, I went to see a physio late on in my pregnancy (my stupid M/W didn't do anything about it, even though I kept telling her it hurt - b*tch) & they said that not lot can be done that late on but she did advise that I don't sit, stand or be in one position for too long, don't lift anything heavy, do housework, sit down to put on knickers, socks etc, bend at the knees if you need to, don't have your legs wide open when sitting, use a gym ball, sit up straight.
She also gave me a huge tubey grip to wear over my bump to help support it as I couldn't wear the support belt.

Hope this helps.

Sorry Nicky :(

Everyone is different, Don't get me wrong it's eased alot but i still feel it when i walk a bit and if i open my legs too wide (getting in cars etc)

Once your hormones settle then you'll notice the difference, its the hormone RELAXIN that your body produces to get ready for childbirth that does it, it stops your hips and pelvis being a supportive.

See i'm not just full of useless info
