....about OPKs. This is my first month using them. I think I either ov'd yesterday or I am today. The line is either so faint, it's barely visible, or faint; nowhere near as dark as the other line. My ff has shown ferning the past few days and have lots of nippy feelings/niggles today. Do OPKs work for everyone?

They are ic...one step ovulation test.

Think I've ov'd as had ferning on my fertile focus, had ewcm, and niggles and nipping where my ovaries are and a bit of cramping. Boobs also been a bit sore.xx

Normally the 2 lines have to be the same darkness or darker. U get a + then your body has 12-13 hours to ovulate so u might just get a + tomorow thats y u showing all the symptoms? x

You should get ewcm before ov - sometimes it can last for several days so it doesn't necessarily pinpoint ov to the day. I would carry on with the opks, though it's possible you could have missed your surge if you've only been testing once a day. What cd are you on and how long are your cycles?

I've used those opks and they seem to work ok xx

I'm on CD13 today. My cycles have been 33 days, then 30 days (came off the pill at the start of october).xx

I would say it's probably a bit early for you to ov yet if your cycles are 30-33 days. I have a 27 day cycle and get a positive opk usually on cd 12 or 13 - you don't ov for another 12-48 hours after a positive either.

If you assume you're going to have another 30 day cycle and your lp 14 days you wouldn't get a positive until cd 15/16. If you have a longer cycle this month or your lp is shorter it could be a few days later eg cd 19.

I would carry on with the opks maybe twice a day, afternoon and evening and see what happens.

Should have said as well if you have a 30ish day cycle it's unlikely you would ov on cd 11 or 12 as your lp would be a lot longer than is usual xx

thanks, will keep trying them. but what about the ferning i've had on my fertile focus? it has gone back to partial ferning, which would indicate ovulation has already occured.xx

Hi Pip ,if it was me i would be thinking that its not positive becuase the surge is over and i've ovulated.
Just because I would expect a positive , with ewcm , then ferning.

However we are all very different and so it may take a few months of charting these symptoms to figure out what your own pattern is.

Hi pip, sorry I'm not sure about ferning as I've not tried it. You may have ov'd and missed your surge on the opks or it could be that it's not happened yet. Sometimes the surge doesn't happen when you expect it so I would carry on with the opks for another week or so if it was me. I wouldn't want to stop too soon and miss it ifkwim.
