Hiya ladies...

Apologies for the rubbish pictures!! I'm hoping that you still might be able to make out the lines on my OPKs though even if slightly :s

I'm on CD19, I've been using OPKs since CD11 (more recently twice/day) the line seemed to gradually be getting dark but then stopped altogether either on CD16/17 but then yesterday and today the line has been the darkest it has been yet but its still not quite as dark as the control line but I'm on CD19 was hoping to have ov'd by now! I'm wanting the ones from today/yesterday to be classed as positive so bad but realistically want another opinion on whether they are or not? xx

(further info: my cycles = irregular but usually last 28-34)

hey hunny!!!
I cant see the pics very clearly but the second to the bottom looks the darkest out of all of them?
How does tht one look to u?
How often are u testing??
U obvs know that it HAS to be as darker/darker that control like to be classed as a positive... But i always wonder if ur just testing once a day how do u know if u 'caught' the positive or not?

I really am starting to believe OPKs r more hassle than they r worth but like u hun i have a rather random cycles!!! So we kinda need OPKs to make sum kind of sense of our strangeness lol!

Helloooo :)

I have tested twice today (bottom two sticks) & three times the day before lol but usually I only do once / day until I think I may be ovulating and then I get a bit OPK happy & go mad!!

It's not quite positive grrr but I want it to be haha!! & I'm thinking when the bloody hell is it going to be?!? So then I stare at the sticks & think well maybe?? It is the darkest its been!? Oops :s think I then read too much into it. I will leave it for today now & do another one about 11am tomorrow & see what that is like - hopefully it will be one step darker again = bingo! if its fainter & starts to go the opposite direction then I won't know whats gone on & whether or not I have ovulated at all? Going to BD tonight just in case ;) then see what tomorrow brings!

Thanks for your advice hun, really appreciate it :) will keep you updated!! xxxx

Really hard to tell - them things are sometimes hard enough to read when they are in front of you! what were they like when you took them before they dried out I mean, cos they do go lighter as they dry. Why can't these tests just say yes or no - rather than maybe, lol.

At least your BD tonight anyway to make sure so if that does turn out to have been your positive you have it covered :)

hope it's darker tomoz for you :)

Its so frustrating isnt it?!
Ive had months and months on end not getting a definate +opk before now.
I just think.....if in doubt...drop yer knickers. LOL :)

is your test darker today? fingers crossed the opk stops confusing you :)

Hiya.. I caved in last night and did another one & I'm sure the lines were equal = positive (I would take a pic but my camara on my phone is rubbish as you already know ha) ... I didnt see this post until after I had already updated my journal but I've put more about it in that :) thanks everyone for all your honest opinions & keeping me thinking straight when I'm willing negative results to miraculously be classed as positive hehe.. but im sure this time im seeing things clearly! xx

Those cheapie tests are the devil! Trying to get a definate answer from them is like drawing blood from a stone!

I only ever got 1 really good positive test from them, where the test line was as dark as the control line, the rest of the time i got an odd half and half line. Half would be light and the other half would be darker but still not as dark as the control. Any how these weird lines were actually my +opk!! I ended up backing them up with a smiley clearblue just to double check.

If your unsure you could always back them up with a smiley opk....or like the other lady says drop ya knickers when ya think it looks good enough!! Lol x x x

P.s sorry but i really couldnt tell which was the strongest test and didnt want to give you wrong advise/opinion x x

Hiya Emma, thanks for your input :) I have considered in investing in some better OPKs but whenever I look at them and see the price I think eek :| & never have it in me to actually buy them lol, my cheapies work out like 10p & although they keep me questioning and on my toes lol they usually make some sense! I rekon if in another 3 - 4 months time I'm still TTC and have had mo luck I will definitely need to invest in some better ones though.. which do you recommend?? xx

personally i love the clearblue monitor, you can pick these up on ebay cheaper than in the shops and the sticks too, the inital out lay is alot but is soooo much easier. You pee on 1 stick with fmu and it tells you how fertile you are low(not likely fertile) high(could still have a chance) peak(about to ov). This is my first month using it and i didnt expect much as i've read they 'get to know you' in the first cycle. But it worked perfect and i got my 2 peak days!

If this is a bit too much you could carry on using the clearblue smiley, but for 7 in a box it works out so dear and you have to be careful when you use them as you only get a few. But having said that they do work.

Your other option is to carry on with the cheapies....i did a whole month of cheap tests and stuck them in a book, in order and labelled. That way i could see for certain what my +opk looked like. Then the next month i had a rough idea of what to expect and when i saw it i backed it up with a smiley opk. That way i only had to use 2-3smiley opks a cycle and so 1 box of 7 lasted 2 cycles.

Hope this helps x x x
