Not home from hospital yet, can't believe I've been in here since 4.30am Tue morning!!!
Thought is give a quick update on my actual labour...
I had been having period cramping all Monday (12th) on and off, my blood pressure was def rising with them as my face and neck were going red. To help things along I took small capsuals of castor oil around late,afternoon.. Which did make me have loose bowel movement, and the curry the night before prob helped there too lol.
11.45 I started getting tightenings across my belly which I confused at first with bubs stretching, they weren't painful, all I had was a dull ache like period which I had been feeling all day.
I eventually started timing them, at 2am I decided it was contractions
S and called my Mum.
At 4am my waters broke, but hospital wanted me straight in due to babies echogenic bowel.
After 10 hours I was only 1cm... At this point I took diamorphene which helped me sleep, but I was out of it which I didn't like.
I was told my sugar levels were low, and labour wasn't progressing coz I couldn't eat, I couldn't keep anything down. After a half restful sleep with barely any contractions I had only made it to 4cm. After this they decided to put me on sytocin drip to move things along.at which point I asked for an epidural.
My epidural only took to my left side despite it being moved but it did help numbing to a certain degree which I was thankful for! The drip helped to fully dilate me but brought contractions on hard & fast.
Towards the end during by contractions I used gas & air which I felt really helped, but I didn't like the drunk feeling it gave me or the tingles numbing feeling in my legs!
I started pushing at 1.00am with no more gas as I felt it might take my concentration away.
At 1.52 am baby was born!! I got to hold my little man skin too skin and have a cry with daddy.
Unfortunately shortly after I started feeling sick & then my hearing became faint and my vision blurred.
I fainted, Mum & other half were very worried and were slapping trying to wake me, but nothing.
I woke to various doctors running round me, I lost alot of blood fast. They had me on various drips to bring me to, after that I had to be taken into surgery had a blood transfusion and a third degree tear stitched.
In all was a 50hour tiring labour that was scary but I wouldn't change it for threw world!!
Our little man Taylor Elliot McLean weighing 8.968lbs.
Xx

I feel your pain Robyn,

I did early labour at home (from 10.30pm on 11th Nov until we went in at 9am on Tuesday 13th) I was 5cm when I got there and had another 14 hours of labour before my little made an appearance.

Luckily I was OK with the actual birth and got away without any tears / stiches and I've been pretty OK bleeding wise!

All the matters is the end result though hey????

Our little men are worth it?
