my friend phoned me last night to tell me that her daughter whos in year 3 isn't doing a nativity like she did in years 1 and 2 . They aren't doing anything to mark christmas - not even a carol service

Im shocked that schools seem to think that becasue a child is 6+ they are too old to take part in a nativity!
Its ery sad. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Mine are all doing a christmas play.

Wow never known owt like that
Emily is in the Christmas perfomance she is an angel (again, was sheep last year lol)and she is 8

My little girl is only in year 2 but they are doing a play (shes an angel too, again!) but the rest of the school up to year 6 are doing them too.

only reception and yr1 are doing nativity at our school this year :( Charlotte is narrator :|

I spent all my school years being jealous of the blonde haired girls cos I wanted to be an angel and ended up being narrator year after year. By some miracle, I manage a blonde haired daughter, I've spent 6 years getting excited about her being an angel, and they go making her narrator :wall: The teacher said it was because she has a beautiful, clear, well spoken accent and they can rely on her to remember the words - she also agreed with my preferred description - she has a big gob and never shuts up  . I'm dead proud of her though (even if I am sick of hearing the bl@@dy words)

As an added bonus, they're NOT banning videos / cameras this year

Callum is once again playing Mary  in the Church nativity (there's a shortage of older girls and he loved the attention he got doing it last year) :wall: Charlotte refuses to take part as they don't give the little ones proper parts - they wanted her to be a sheep. Alex is being a star and is expected to sit still on the stage for an hour - yeah right, that's going to happen. Daniel is narrator  he's not allowed to change the words or try making the actors laugh - he's been wandering around with a tea towel on his head, a pair of Charlottes fairy wings on his back and a tutu skirt :? . Cameras are banned though, so what could well end up being the funniest, most farcical nativity in human history will be forgotten forever. God help me

Oh Tracy, can't you sneak a camera in?? That does sound like it could be really funny!

Kayleigh had Xmas plays right up until year 6 as well. Each year would do an act, starting with the reception doing the nativity so they could then go home. Then each year would do something, ending with the year 6's which was usually a comedy, but with a Xmas theme. I loved each and every one! It's a crying shame that they are stopping them. :(

Mum was on the commitee which voted for no cameras, I can't really sneak one in. But, I have an idea (CCTV cameras can be moved) - need to see how much my daddy loves his darling daughter

how far is Lancashire from me anywayTracey? might well be worth the long drive to see that nativity! i think they should get one person from the committee to video it and then sell copies to the parents of the kids involved?

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Daddy doesn't love me enough and won't do it  He works away all week as it is, and doesn't want to have to work all weekend too
