I have my nip pierced, and I was wondering if anyone knew when was the right time to remove it during pregnancy. Does anyone have any idea?

Well, my workmate has hers done and she has replaced it with a maternity one..she doesn't like it too much but if she left it out it would heal over!

But wouldn't it be hard to breasfeed?

Sounds like a lot of work just for a dumb little piercing.
I think I will probably end up just taking it out..

had mine done when i was your age.. n got preg when i was 18.. so took it out to feed.. that breast leaked a lot more..and the milk comes out of the holes lol..this nipple again has started leaking just a little..oh btw i put it bk in for 2 years and took it out last year..it was tight.. but it went bk in.. ummm...

its out now.. if ur gonna breast feed i would take it out... about 20-30 weeks.. if u wanna put it bk in after feeding i would suggest take it out later...as in 30 weeks.. xx

Thanks so much! I'll take it out at 20 weeks.
I have kind of gotten bored with it anyways. :)

i had mine done when i had all my piercing many years ago but have taken it out and it has closed up fully now
if youve only got the one pierced and you not just breastfeed of the other boob hun? save some trouble
manda xx

hehe!! :) u have to alternate breast.. or the other one will keep filling lol..and get really really painfull :) u made me laugh

I've got my belly button pierced. Last time I was pregnant I got a maternity bar for it which is a bit longer than usual and made of flexible plastic. I put mine in a bit too late (in the third trimester when it was starting to hurt) so after the birth I was left with the skin inbetween the 2 holes being stretched out of shape and looking a bit weird.
I'll be putting it in a lot sooner this time, as soon as I start getting a bump :D

i got 11 piercings and took all of them out when i found out i was pregnant ( did the same last time too), have no idea why but it didnt feel right while i was pregnant, luckily none healed up completely, some of them hurt a little when i re pierce them. so again im not wearing any this pregnancy.

i am not bothered with them healing as all the ones in my ears i did myself so im not loosing out on any money as i know it can be pricey. I know some people also remove tongue piercings as the metal in mouth can make u feel worse when suffering morning sickness

Have always loved the look of nipple piercings but just toooo scared to get it done :rotfl: even though i have other intimate piercings

Why not, may I ask?
Just curious.

i think each woman should choose what suits her, manda dont feel presured into feeding.. as u will prob feel later on, do what u want to.. my mum didnt feed me.. but in a way i felt disadvantaged coz noone showed me how to when i had charl n i couldnt do it.. im determined this time.. not just for the nutritional benifits but for cost too

What are the benefits for bottle feeding and breastfeeding?
I really know very little myself, and still don't know for sure what I'll do... but most likely breastfeeding.

tbh i hate it i no its a natural thing but i cant stand it. its every womens right to feed anywhere but they always seem to do it when im trying to eat in places like cafe's and macdonalds. it does bother me im just weird and dont see it as natural my mum never breastfeed any of us and we turned out fine i personaly dont think there is to much difference in breast and bottle noawdays apart from the bonding thing as formula is nearly just as good
also when i was a baby i was lactose intorrelent so i had to have special formula milk. if my baby was like it aswell i wouldnt be able to feed it as id have lactose in my body
so a maybe silly thing in some eyes and a partly medical reson for why i wouldnt do it
god i have rambled on lol

well...

i tried feeding charlotte.. when i was in the hospital the auxillary nurse looked at my bobs and said. u have flat nipples.. i sadi ive got what? flat nipples its hard for a baby to latch on to them.. lets try her.. so she tried ehr.. grabbing ehr head n trying to shove her onto me..i was almost in tears.. she said phone ur mum and ask ehr to get u nipple sheilds..

well i didnt wanna bother my mum, she had already gone to the shop for me... so i decided i would wait till i left the hospital.. and that was that they didnt try her again..

i got home bought a breast pump and a nipplette - where the cup thing sucks ur nipple out and mangaed to alternate breast and formular, till my midwife gave me a row.. what are you doing breast or bottle u cant do both u will confuse her.. i jsut burst into ttears, and gave up feeding ehr...

my mw was a complete moo tho.. and this time im gonna have better support and i will feed both breast and formular if i struggle..

i think formular is easier, more expensive, and more convienient for shopping, and baby sitting..

i think breastfeeding can be more painfull, time consuming, cheaper, and gives u a special bond..

theres no doubt that breast milk is best for babys.. but formular fed babys do just as well on formular..

I won't be breatfeeding either. I just feel more comfortable with a bottle. I know it's natural but I don't like mixing sex and feeding my baby together if you know what I mean. My breasts are only for my partner. I don't mind other people doing it and they have the right to do it anywhere they please. It's just a personal thing for me. I'm not offending anyone who does breastfeed as it feels natural to them, just not to me!

I am not looking forward to very sore breasts though after I have my baby!! :(

i tried last time and managed for a few weeks then went onto expressing but became ill and dehdrated so my milk dried up.

i will be trying again this time, especially at night makes night feeds so much easier, can just lie in bed with baby next to you, no worrying about heating milk etc half asleep.

but im not looking foward to when the milk supply comes in, last time it was sooo painful, i woke up and my boobs were rock hard and sooo painful, the last thing i wanted was a baby trying to latch on but its the onlt way to relive the pain.
