My appointment was meant to be for 10am this morn, so we arrived on time, and ended up waiting TWO hours!!! It turned out that somehow I had been put in a clinic for epileptic mothers, and they are v busy because usually there is so much to check etc. So I was told that I was very low risk. Iin fairness they did apologise to me for the mix up!!! But argggghhhhhhh.........

My appointment was sooooo rushed!! I was scanned very very quickly, told baby is measuring perfect, and she is weighing 2Ibs 8. I was told that as I am very low risk, showing no problems with growth etc, they won't be seeing me again until I give birth!!!!!!!!!!

Is this normal??!!! Just feels like I've been abandoned!!! :eh:

I didn't get my fundal height measured, and I wasn't told what way the baby was lying. I didn't even get my urine tested! When she was scanning me, she asked if I knew what i was having, just incase she mentioned anything if I hadnt wanted to know the gender. I told her I'd been told girl, but she made no comment....so now she's also got me wondering about the gender of baby!!!! Then got bloods done, and rushed out!! So rushed that I even forgot to ask about booking a birthing pool and private room etc!!!!

So my next appointment is for 13th September.....my due date!!:shock::shock:

Had a look at my file when I came out, and it said I was measuring 50th centenile...haven't a clue what this means, can anyone explain??

Thinking of booking a private scan in a couple of weeks, maybe get a 4D scan, just for peace of mind!! I've already had a private anomoly/gender scan, and was so glad I did!!!

Am feeling a bit alone and lost in all this!!!!

xxxx

How odd that you won't get a 34 or 37 week appointment!!

50th centile just means perfectly average growth, not to big, not too small :)

Maybe make an appointment with your community midwife at your doctor's surgery to discuss your birthing options, ask at your doctor's reception and they should be able to help xx

Odd, indeed!! She said that they used to give appointments at 35 weeks, but dont do that anymore, and I should just go to my mw or GP for some appointments between now and my due date!! As I am under shared care, and dont have a mw, it will be just the GP from now on!! xx

That sounds well wierd. Ive had half hr midwife appts at 34,36,38 and last one i will be 40+4. Wee tested everytime as well as baby felt, measured, heartbeat listened to and blood pressure taken.
Id be gettin on to ur gp surgery x

I know!!! I was expecting to have fundal height measured and tummy examined, and told how baby was lying etc. But none of that happened!!! I thought they had to check how baby was lying right up until the birth? Going to ring the hospital today xx

I am under shared care and have the GP 31 weeks and the midwife 34 weeks, then GP then MIDwife at 40 weeks or something I can't remember, wow that's weird, I definately don't want a water bed but didn't know I had to book a bed noone's told me, might need to ask. I have a scan at 36 weeks for some odd reason, haven't had one sine 20 weeks

I've just rang the antenatal clinic, and the receptionist even said to me did they not discuss and do my birth plan or anything!!! Apparently I cant book a private room or birthing pool until I arrive in labour anyway, and then it comes down to whether or not there are any available!!!! As for my mat B1 form I have to call up at the clinic and get it!! I am sooooo confused!!! I don't even have a proper m/w, and just have to make my own appointments with my GP (who to be honest are always booked up by about 2 weeks anyway!!). :(

Very odd Karolina,

I am shared care so I get to chose with some appointments if I want to see MW or GP (my GP surgery is much closer) but I'll have appointments every 2 weeks after 31 weeks?

I can't belive you don't have your MATB1 form yet either - My work need mine by the end of the month...

xxxxxxxxxxx

My midwife did my Matb1 without any questions, just go down the maternity ward and insist a midwife dose it. I would make a complaint, they really are fobbing you off. I have to make my own GP appts but I don't erally care if i see the same GP as the first one was so indifferent anyways. LOL I just like the fact that they listen to the heartbeat :)

I think it is just so different in different areas....my friend is at a different hospital than me over here and even she is getting seen more regularly, she found it a bit odd too, esp since this is my first baby.
I'm really worried now that I won't have my Mat B1 form in on time!!! I dont know what the deadline is with my work!!!!! xx

was just flicking through my maternity file too, and there's just very little written on it...growth chart has one mark on it from yesterdays appointment and thats the way it is going to stay by the looks of it!! Birth plan pages are blank, surely they need to know what I want to happen during my labour?!

DId the Mat ward say u can just pick it up and they will sign it off? it's just a slip of paper that confirms your due date with hospital stamp but your work usualyl needs it to confirm all is well. Usually by 25 weeks but don't panic I am sure they'll be ok with it being later.

That doesn't sound right to me atall. If I was you I'd ring your local Primary Care Trust and ask them, they are the people that run the nhs. Hope you manage to sort something out hun x x

That defo doesn't sound right, you should defo have more midwife appointments before your due date where they test your urine, blood pressure, babys heartbeat and measure your bump. x

I have checked and yes it says by 25 weeks 'or as soon as resonably practicable'. I'm calling in to the clinic on Monday to get it, as they said just to call in. Hopefully it can be processed ok...I informed my hr dept of my intended maternity dates etc, and got a confirmation letter from them, just need to get this Mat B1 form off!!!

I was told that because I am very low risk, I don't need anymore hospital appointments. I have a doctors appointment on monday so I'm going to ask my doctor about it. I'm just so annoyed because I was for some reason put in a high risk clinic for epileptic mothers, even though I don't have epilespy.....and ended up waiting 2 hours to see someone, and when I eventually did I was rushed in and out!

I am so sorry Karolina, noone seems to inform you of anything, I would make a formal complaint about the way they've treated you :(

I'm definitely considering making a complaint....though I want to keep my stress levels to a minimum and not sure I can be bothered with it all tbh!!! xx
