I also had Ella waking that often, Claire but since she's been sleeping better during the daytime in her cot, the nighttime has improved. Basically they need 4 naps during the day. 2 short ones and 2 longer ones. It should be in their cot in a darkened room. I carry Ella in, tell her it's time for a nap and then lay her down on her side. I close my eyes or don't look at her, put my hand on her stomach firmly and the other on her back. I breathe in and focus my mind and relax. when I breathe out go "shhh" and rock her gently back and forth. When I breathe in, I keep her still. Repeat for 1-5 mins. It's important to take your hands away at the end of the out breathe before you start breathing in again. Then I kiss her and say "good night, sleep tight" (you can say anything but you should always say the same thing), then leave the room. If you have to go in to resettle, repeat the process again. It doesn't work if you aren't completely relaxed and sending your calming energy to them. Sounds ridiculous nut my OH tried it and she screamed!
Good luck and let me know if it works!
I've just had to come upstairs in the middle if a film to feed E as she was crying. That was only a 4 hour stretch. She normally does better than that and she had some baby porridge for tea. I thought that was meant to fill babies up so they sleep longer?
Hope everyone has successful nights!
