Nightfeeds Chat Thread

Ugh. Can't wait till we start loosing some of the night feeds. She's not showing any sign of wanting to! I suppose we have the lovely 4m sleep regression to deal with first :-( xx

The first part of the night was good (6 hour stretch) but now she's awake again after just 3 hours.
Sounds like there have been some good babies around!

Hi ladies, well we have been up for last half an hour. He woke at 2 but I just put dummy in and patted him a bit and he went back off yay! I'm so glad he can finally keep the dummy in a bit longer! It's become a real saviour these last couple of weeks.
Hope everyone is sleeping soundly xxxx

Not sleeping soundly, unfortunately. Fed her at 4, she went down for an hour, then has been a nightmare for an hour. Tried not to cave in, but have ended up feeding her. She'd better go back to sleep after this! If not, I might just leave her with my OH and go for a run. He's going to be grumpy as he's mot had enough sleep. Bloody Mondays!

Up for second feed here. First was at 12.15 so we only got just over 4 hrs for the first stretch, bit less than usual. Didnt get her back down until one as she needed nappy changing and unusually wanted both boobs. But then we got another 4 and a bit hour stretch until 5.15 so all in all not too bad. She stirred at 4ish but I just put euan on and she went straight back off. I've discovered that if she's not really that hungry euan will send her back off pretty quickly but if she is hungry then no chance!

Spin I don't think all babies suffer the 4m sleep regression. You never know, because you've suffered so much up until now she might be kind and skip that bit, fingers crossed.

Claire I'm glad the dummy seems to be working. Seren won't keep hers in for long at all so I've resisted giving it to her at night time because I can see me being up every 5 mins putting it back in!

Oh no Sophie, it sounds like you're having a terrible time of it. Hope you managed to get some more sleep xxx

Why won't my baby just sleep thru the night. ! Gah! It's doing my head in. He can do it but just refuses to. I hate it I'm so tired!!! Moany moany moany pants.

Oh Sophie, what time did she go down before the 4am feed? Hoping you at least got a good part of the night? That's what we usually get, then he wakes pretty much hourly from then! I do the same and try to resist feeding too.

Ammdaz I was exactly the same as u with the dummy, thought it wouldn't be worth it as he was so rubbish at keeping it in, but as soon as his teeth started coming through he has been really good at it! It doesn't stay in all night so I just move it away from his face but pop it in again next time he moans. Sometimes I am still putting it back ever couple of minutes but then he settles. My first boy never took to them at all so I wasn't expecting to use them this time but I love it! Xx

This is my first venture into this thread. We had the worst night so far ( apart from night 1) last night. Violet fed 4 times between midnight and 3:00am and every time I tried to put her back to sleep she bawled the place down. I tried unsuccessfully to put her down until 5:00am when I tried one last feed and OH took over for a little while as I was absolutely shattered. Hope tonight is more successful.

Not a good night here! Seren was up at 12.15 then 3. I decided to cosleep from 3 because I was feeling lazy. Then she woke up at 5 to feed again then was sick all over herself and the bed so woke right up when I changed her. She's been awake ever since! I've given up and watching tv now. Haven't had a night like this since the newborn days but hey I'm getting great smiles!

Took her to the docs yesterday about how much she's sick and he was stumped and said he'd do a bit of research. Phoned me back later to say he'd prescribed something for her but I don't know yet what it is, hopefully can pick it up today. Not sure I'm too confident about it though as he didnt seem to have a clue what to give her when we were talking to him xxx

I'll be interested to know what he prescribes. Let me know! :)?

Picked up the prescription this morning as apparently our chemist is closed on Saturday  It's domperidone. Google tells me that it is suitable for her symptoms but I've just given her her first dose then she had a really good feed but then projectile vomited everywhere! Needless to say I'm very nervous about giving her anymore! Xxx

Ah oh dear! Might be worth persisting with a few doses? If it starts to work i will be straight on to my drs!

We're back to waking after 2 hours...no idea why when he's done over 4 the last 2 nights, can hardly keep my eyes open :-(

So I have a new dilemma! After complaining about her waking every 2 hours, she's currently still asleep, and her last feed was 5 hours ago. She's only 13 days old, do I wake her for a feed? (I'm breastfeeding).

When she was first born midwife said not to leave her more than 6 hours, but preferably every 4.

She's making noises in her Moses basket but when I look in, she's still asleep! So crazy mummy is awake and online and baby sleeps... Thoughts? Xx

She woke up just after I wrote that post! Lol! Still be interested to know what people think though! X

Chloe is she gaining weight well? If so I'd leave her.

Not the best night here. Up at 11.15 and 3.20 so far. So frustrating when I know she can do so much better. Hope everyone else is getting on ok xxx

Ha Chloe I didn't see your second post until after I replied! I remember the same thing happening when Seren was tiny, I was half pleased that she was sleeping so well (it didnt last lol) and half wishing she would wake and stop worrying me! She went about 5 hours in the end too xxx

Welcome dotty woman (my spell check was trying to change that to dirty woman! Haha!). Violet is a beautiful name! Hope her sleeping improves!

Chloe you lucky thing.. I never had that dilemma! I personally would wake them after 4 hours for the first month, then after that let then sleep if gaining weight ok. I'm a massive worrier though and both my boys have been super greedy so it would feel strange to me.

Hope everyone's having a good night. Not great here.. He slept 9-12 then I had to rock him back to sleep for AGES as I'm refusing to feed until at least 3am now (he's nearly 5 months), then he woke at 3:30 so I'm still feeding. Super tired and school run in the morning ;-( xxx

Hi... I'm back! Hannah so full of cold she's slept terribly, even next to me. Finally settled but on me and I'm sat upright in bed. Yikes. Man I'm exhausted as I have the cold too. Bad times!

Chloe if LO is a good weight, no jaundice and gaining weight then let her sleep when she wants to, especially at night. Hannah usually feeds frequently in the day so she'll sleep longer at night. Congratulations btw I hope you're enjoying being a mama :-)

Oh Claire I feel for you with the school run n we just have a tenancy inspection tomorrow so I don't have to get up early.

Dottywoman it's great to see you in here! Congratulations! Xx

Welcome dotty woman! Hope Violet had a good sleep.
Sorry yo welcome you back Umbongo! 8 hours is an amazing stretch.
Hope you're ok, BeeSmall? How old's your LO?
Chloe: I used to set an alarm in the early days! Probably a bit extreme. I would feed her. Every 4 hours at least at the beginning. If she's asleep, I'd just lift her up and feed her and then pop her back. It's not likely to wake her.
Claire hope the school run goes ok and you can sleep afterwards.
I have E baby rice for the forst time for tea. Popped her in bed at 6.30 but she wouldn't settle. Went to check on her and she'd been sick everywhere, poor baby. Had to change her covers and clothes and give her a bath. Fed her again and expected a bad night. Feeding eise she did really well 12:30, 3:30 and now at 7, but she was straining for a poo and uncomfortable so had to walk round with her for ages too.
