Nightfeeds Chat Thread

Honestly the amount of poo explosions Max has he would be one stinky boy if I only bathed him once a week! Xxxx

JJ is a sweaty baby! He would also stink with 1 bath a week lol x

Seren is quite sicky so we top and tail every morning and I bath her every other evening, don't think we could get away with once a week either. Plus I like the idea of using a bath as part of our bedtime routine to help her settle when she's a bit older xxx

I dread bedtime as I never get any chance to sleep before midnight usually. Evenings are hard!

I have always done bath every other night its simpler and now with our family getting even bigger we can just about manage it this way. If i were to only wash/bathe Aurelia once a week she'd stink as she spits up quite a bit...usually down me lol.

I think you end up doing whatever works. Hannah hates being changed or washed so I'm not keen on bathing more than needed! :-)

I am soooo tired... Is it bedtime yet?!?!? Xxx

Ditto this! Only just managed to get DS to sleep, he's normally really good at going to bed but tonight he was over tired and got all upset so I had to sit with him until he dropped off. And it took me ages to get Seren to sleep tonight too. The last couple of nights she hasn't wanted to fall asleep on the boob, last night she just dozed off on her own but tonight she wouldn't give in so we had to try out Ewan the sheep and rocking her in her basket and she eventually dropped off. She's snoring away now bless her! It's strange for me having a baby who doesn't want the boob to fall asleep because when DS was small that's the only way he would go to sleep at night for a very long time.

Anyway I'm knackered now. X factor then bed for me! Xxx

Its getting harder to change JJ too. H
His changing mat is cold. So when he goes on that and i want him changed, he screams lol. But he loves the bath! He kicks and grins and its lovely seeing hin like that. X

Evening are hard! They're our worst time of day. She wakes in the night but she is normally calm and quiet-ish and just wants to feed/co-sleep then goes back to sleep. She cries a lot more in the evenings :(

Ow and evenings are the best time too! J is the same. . If he cries, its ib tge evening. He was crying from about 5.30-7.45 today with a break when we went for a walk. Im slightly concerned about tonight as he is sleeping already. Hopefully he still goes 5 hours though. 2.15 he should wake if thats the case x

My baby wants to sleep on him tummy. He settles sooooo much better on his front but I don't let him sleep like this because I know it's dangerous. He is 2 weeks today. What does everyone else with tummy sleepers do?? He doesn't settle for very long on his back I have to put him on me on my front and he sleeps there for a time! Naughty I know xx

J is much happier on his back when swaddled really tight than when left in just his vest and baby grow. He generally doesn't like his back otherwise. He does like to sleep on his belly, so every morning when he gets his last hour of sleep after a feed, I let him sleep on his belly.. xx

Have you got a mattress sensor thing? I'd be inclined to let hin sleep how he wants and use one of those x

got lo lying facing me bfing, wont get much but at least she is quiet

I knew it would go a bit differently tonight! J managed 4hr 20 instead of 5 hours tonight. So the wake up was much earlier as he slept earlier too. He has gone back down now but only took 2oz before refusing the rest.

I sure hope he doesn't wake for another feed otherwise we will be going backwards! Xx

Hubby, in his infinite wisdom, decided not to give the top up bottle at bedtime because she was sick and sleepy. And wondered why she was awake wanting a feed 2h earlier then usual...

Doh.

My lo always naps on her front but never at night as we swaddle her.

Xx

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining in. My little boy is 2 days old and I'm breastfeeding him. As yet my milk hasn't come in, when does this usually happen? Midwives in the hospital didn't mention it. Last night and so far tonight he just won't sleep anywhere at all. He feeds or cries to be fed...nothing else! Not really sure what I'm doing wrong but surely it's not possible to feed for 10 hours and have no sleep at all?! Even a few hours would feel amazing at the moment!!

Morning ladies, M slept 10 - 4:30 so I feel positively refreshed haha!

Hi Bee and welcome! Your milk usually comes in day 3/4 so baby is doing what they're programmed to do a sucking all the time to try and bring it and up your supply. It is such hard work at the beginning and feels constant, but you're doing nothing wrong and it will get easier I promise. Have you tried feeding while laying on your side in bed with baby next to you? This was and still is my knock out baby move and works every time to settle him. Babies feed every 1-2 hours day and night at the beginning, so just make sure you try and grab a nap whenever you can. By 4 weeks by baby was sleeping 3-4 hours at night so it's does get easier quicklyl. Good luck hun you're doing a great job! Xxx
