Nightfeeds Chat Thread

Great news with the feeds Saralouise.
Hannah had a feed then pooped, then wanted more so doing this feed in bed. Hoping she settles for a while then. She's been cluster feeding today though so could be in for a long night. Fx your night isn't too bad spinsugar.

Oh my days. Thought she'd finished. But wouldn't sleep. Filled her nappy again and now back feeding. This doesn't bode well!

Me again..fed til 1am. Laid her down, was promptly sick, then had hiccups. Now feeding yet again.
I could honestly cry I'm so Damn tired. I don't know how I'll do this for another 6 months. I might actually die.

First feed 1.30-1.45. Only 2oz so no doubt he will wake soon! 3hr start was gd though

I'd love 3 hours. Hannah just won't sleep. It's feed feed feed. Normally she sleeps 12-3 ish.

I've just had my wake up call at 3 am. Pretty great, as she had her last feed at 8:30. I needed a nice long stretch though, have to get up in 3 hours to go to my triathlon today. Really hope the weather picks up a bit too!

Bex: when E hit the 3 month mark, she completely changed her habits on her own & became a much better sleeper. Everyone says that things improve from 3 months & for us it was really true (well, until this 4 month leap came along & ruined everything!

Bex have you tried a dummy? I know they aren't for everyone but we really turned a corner when H was 10 days & I finally gave him a dummy x

H slept from 11-2.30 which is the best I've had since coming in to hospital so can't complain x

Glad u had a better sleep Sara. Any poo yet?
Umbongo it will get better I promise. She's feeding so much to build up your supply and ro build up her weight! Its tough the first few days. Dummys can def help but they can mask feeding cues just be aware. We were unlucky. Dummies ruined our latch!

Were up for feed 1 but,she didn't settle till gone midnight and she's been grizzling since 2. She's really fussing at the boob lately and will only nipple latch :-(

Hi ladies, I'm up so yesterday's night was definitely a one off (slept 11pm- 630am!) but not surprised!

Oh Bex you're doing soooo well, the beginning absolutely is the worst bit, it's constant and painful and definitely sent to test us! It really is just to build your supply then it starts to ease off more. As Sara suggested maybe try a dummy? M didnt take to one unfortunately but we still try it sometimes when we know he's tired and can't be hungry. They use us as human dummy's sometimes as we're so comforting! I can recognise when this is happening now so take him off the boobie.

Zoe I know what u mean about fussing... M always does this on my right breast now for some reason! He's constantly grabbing at my boob and pulling his head back so keeps unlatching and re latching again, so I have to hold his hand to keep them still. Doesn't he know I need my hand to write on here..?!? ;-) xxx

Thanks ladies. Want to try and avoid a dummy so early as it could affect the latch. Also gone back to thr shields for now as my nipples kill due to all this insane feeding!
I think she settled around 2.30am. But bloody youngest step daughter was up crying again! Guess it's all affecting her, the eldest one seems 'ok'.. we've included them loads this weekend and they adore Hannah but it's bound to be hard for them.
Anyway, hubby settled her and Hannah stayed asleep until just now. So had 3 hours. Thank god!!! Also had cuddles with hubby for most of the 3 hours, it was lovely. I keep getting chills in tje night after feeding.

xx

Good luck with the triathlon Sophie Jane!! In awe of you!!!

Bex have you tried feeding her laying down so you can at least doze? Xxx

I do try sometimes but we struggle to get it quite right. Plus she'll often fall asleep too which doesn't help then. If we could nail latching without tje shields it would help but it only works occasionally. X

Does any one else get the night time dreads?? I do! There starting now.. I get nervous about the lack of sleep and stuff!! Argh! X

I do Amy!!! I hate evenings now as I get more and more tired and know I won't be getting much sleep... Eurgghhh

Thanks for the good vibes, ladies. It worked! The weather was absolutely awful & rained the whole time for my triathlon. Also had this horrible cold & sore throat to contend with. Am a very happy finisher! I managed to come 12th woman overall & was 6th fastest swimmer...I couldn't believe it! To top it all off I got a little trophy for coming 3rd in my age group.

E has been a nightmare all evening, really crying & unsettled. Poor baby.

Am hoping I have more luck with my soak in the tub tonight & she doesn't wake crying.

Hope you all had a great weekend & that we all have sleepy babies tonight!
