After 109 days of being MIA ... AF finally showed up today!!

Didnt really know what to think, part of me was glad she arrived another was annoyed that she took so long and now all I can think is.... well am I going to have to wait another 4 months for my next one!!

Still one good thing is that now I can book my 21 day blood tests!!

Off to have a very large glass of wine.... or two!!!

Vicky, i was told that your 21 day test actually had to be 7 day before your next period - cd 21 only for a 28 day cycle.

I dunno if you even bother with OPKs, but ideally it would be 7/8 days after a surge.

One fertility consultant i spoke to said unless it is 7 days before your next period then it is a pretty useless test. The fertility clinic haven't even asked for confirmation about my cd5 and 21 test results, but they did my chlamydia and hubby's semen analysis.

Maybe you'd be better off asking them to give you a scan and then they can see how many follicles etc you have.

Think I am just going to play dumb with it all and let the doctors do their tests. If I am having a period every 4 months or so then I may as well not be ovulating at all. At least if I have the 21 test done and it comes back negative (which it probably will) then I stand more chance of getting given something to help like clomid.

I'm having my second CD21 test on Tuesday as my previous one came back a little low, although as OV came early it will be a bit late so might not be a great result so I hope I will get Clomid too!!

As like you I don't have 28 day cycle I ended up having two tests done last cycle, one on CD22 as I thought I'd had my surge and one on CD 31, 7 days after my surge actually came.

The first test came back at less than one, which is normal for that part of the the cycle, if you have the CD21 test done now it will more than likely come back negative.

You will have to lie to the docs and say you have had a positive OPK and book the test for 7 days after that, but for that part of your cycle progesterone would be very low, I'd expect that they would know you had had the test done at the wrong time and get you to do it again.

I think you should really push to get referred anyway Hun, whether you have the CD21 tests done or not, remind me how long have you been trying?

My doctors know I have erratic cycles they even have it written down on the blood test paperwork. It was the sole reason I went to see them in the first place so I don't know why they would suggest the test knowing the results will be flawed!!! maybe its standard procedure!! Been tryin 8 months but told the doc it has been longer to speed things up. Hopefully we will both be given clomid to help x x

Hi Hun,

We've been trying a similar time then, my cycles aren't erratic though, just long.

Have you had any blood tests other than CD21, you need to have a full blood count and have your thyroid function checked as ultimately the thyroid controls all your body's hormones, these tests you have on CD1. Also Hun, really with your cycles being erratic, your docs should have offered to repeat your CD21 two or three times to make sure you have a chance of testing at the correct time.

Also they will want you to have a smear and chlamydia test, my docs and Louise B's have made us have these, have you had these recently?

I hope you can get sorted, would be amazing if they just give you clomid but I don't think it works like that, I'll be coming to you for tips though if you do, twins are too cute!

I'm going tomorrow so I'll let you know what they say they are gonna do for me if my results aren't great again, I reckon they will send Hubby for tests too though because if he's not great then we will most likely have to get referred to a specialist.

I had a full blood test done in December it showed my thyroid was on the low side, have to go back in Feb for another full blood count as there is a possibility that I may need to be put on drugs for life because of it.

When I first went to the doctors they wanted me to have the 21 day bloods but because my problem is that my periods are coming every 2, 3, 4 months it would be almost impossible for them to get the right date for me.

Had my scan on the 2nd, ended up being an internal scan as my bladder wasnt full enough, but I didnt mind at all as she said she could get better pictures internally. She didnt tell me if she saw anything other then Well there is no large cyst... leaving me to believe that she did see something.

Have to wait 7 - 10 days for the results to be sent to my doctor.

Hope your tests go ok tomorrow and we both has some positive news in the next few week x

Already spoken to the doctor and he mentioned that I may need to be put on drugs to help me ovulate so I know that Clomid is def a possibility for me, its just a case of when.

Oh I'm glad you've had all those things done then, you must be ready for the next stage, I'm wondering whether they go straight to Clomid or they do a Laparoscopy first?

I'll try and find out tomorrow....

I had the scan too but it was before TTC, as I had pains and that came back ok, hope yours does too.

How did the tests go today Maybe ? do you have to wait long for the results ? did they say what happens next if the results come back negative ?

When I first went to see the nurse about infertility they mentioned that I would need to have bloods done, then scans and possibly dye put in my tubes, so I dont know if that will be next for me as it was the nurse that said that but I am now seeing a doctor.

I also get pains in my lower belly that is why the doctor sent me for a scan, sounds like we are having very similar problems.

Hope you are feeling ok today hun, dont know about you but all these tests can get me down x x x x
