new mum sleep dreaming finding baby in bed covers

thanks everyone this makes me feel much better and less insane lol...thing is I get them EVERY night and whilst some night I calmly fall asleep again others Im wide awake in the middle of the night and thats no fun when you know you need to get some sleep lol...funnily enough I think the sweats must be cold sweats cos last ight wore an extra layer and didnt get it as bad (hmmm...) but yes guessed it was hormone related - dont you just love em!

Haha I have this all the time...Imogen is now 5 months and even tonight I woke up patting the bed. I aso will ask my partner where she is.

Btw we did the 4hrs on 4hrs off shift thing in the early weeks and it worked well for us, enabled us to garuntee we got sleep.

applecrumble, thanks for that and good to know the 'shift' pattern worked for others...she is now getting to the point where she is cluster feeding at bedtime and first thing in morning and as a result can be almost 4hrs between feeds middle of night so making progress...hopefully another few wks and we'll be able to get back to normal sleeping routine for us with her in same room...

I used to get this too when lo was tiny. It's the sleep deprivation and the sudden responsibility of always being 'on' i think so you're never truly relaxed enough to sleep deeply. It didn't last too long though thank goodness...although even now at almost 2 I wake instantly at the slightest wee noise he makes! I'm hard-wired to be on the alert now ;-)

Me and my friend were talking about this today we've both had these dreams x

I've had these terrifying dreams since my boy came home (3mt). I had one last night and I leaped out of bed and put the light on to look for him but I was clutching a pillow!
I have slept with him in bed nest since day 1 and hubby sleeps in other room (due to work) and I think it's the tiredness mixed with the subconscious thought that you must not co sleep etc and the worry of hurting/losing your precious baby that does it!
Thank god were all in the same boat! I thought I was a bit crazy!

Night sweats- I had them for first 8 weeks and it was awful but it was such a relief when they went, apparently it's hormonal and your body getting rid of excess fluid (I didn't realise I was carrying so much!). Xx

Thanks guys, the nighsweats are getting better as they arent every night now but when they do hit they are horrible...the dreams arent every night now either but sometimes think they are so fleeting that dont remember, my subconcious is very quick to ascertain there is no baby in the bed lol and let me sleep...
