My son is a year old on Thursday and very rarely sleeps through, he wakes up so much through the night and I really don't know why. I've tried so many things now and running out of ideas.

He goes to sleep in his cot on his own after his bottle and cuddles from mummy&daddy about 7ish and always goes down fine :) but then can wake up to 5-6 times...a dummy will settle him almost all the time he's just lazy and won't look for it himself lol.

If anyone has anything I can try I'll be extremely thankful xxxxx

Can you get a strip of thick fabric to tie into the dummy so he can find it more easily? I would do that.. then leave him to it.

If he wakes up, ignore him unless he really gets upset rather than just making attention seeking noise. Then go in, Keep lights off, give dummy, say nothing, and walk striaght back out again.

You cab get dummy clips that attach on to the dummy n then clip on to clothes.they're no expensive as they do em in the £1 shop near me

Yeah I've got dummy clips but as he is a active sleeper I think it hurts him when he's moving about. Yeah I will try tie it to his muslin :-) will do it all through the day too so he knows where it is :-)

Thanks ladys xx

Try playing 'find the dummy' in the daytime in his cot. Just hide a few around h

Sorry
Hide a few in his cot and make a game of it, give him loads of praise when he finds one. Don't know if it will work but I read it somewhere and it's worth a try.
Hope it works, my lo wakes hourly and won't settle back even with his dummy :( its exhausting

Seb is exactly the same, although quite often hell find his dummy now x I was advised by health visitor not to use dummy clips as the tie can get tangled around babies throats and that scares me. All we do is wait to see if he'll find it himself (ie not go in as soon as he cries) and if the crying continues we go in (have a stash of dummies in case we can't find it) replace dummy, walk out. No lights or talking x

Ignore any mistakes-my iPhone is addicted to autocorrect!

Alanna hates dummy clips, but having something "chunky" tied to it (not to her) helps her find it.

Both of mine had the exact same problem until OH and I went cold turkey and got rid of the dummy. The best thing we have ever done. First 3 nights were quite hard but they both slept through ever since and never looked back.
I know it sounds harsh and we left it way too long with our first (He was about 14-15 months when we took it off him), we were tired and fed up so with the second one we took his dummy away when he was 6 months old. The best thing I have ever done. Haven't had a sleepless night since. Good luck! x
