hiya so I normally ovulate on CD11 or CD 12, so this month we BD CD 5,7,10,11 thinking the same will happen, but I just felt like I haven't ovulated so this morning I bought ovulation sticks (I wasn't going to but I couldn't help myself) anyway today is CD12 and I got my LH surge which confirms my feeling. Anway so does this mean all the BDing was for nothing as I might not ovulate till another 48 hours right? Also my question do we keep BDing till OPK goes negative? which will mean 4-5 days in a row, I am not sure if we have the energy for it. What do you think?

Hi Maximus, I was like you this month and used ovulation tests for the first time only to get my surge a little later than expected. We BD’d on the day I got the surge but no more after that as we’d run out of energy from BDing so many times before. Anyway it worked for us and I got a BFP Saturday. I would say just do it as much as you are able to over the next few days but without putting pressure on yourself as those little swimmers can live for up to 5 days. Fingers crossed for you xx

I agree with Nive. It's hard keeping it up for so many days in a row, so try and bd as much as you can but don't feel down if you can only do it one more time from now on because of energy levels. You can still get your bfp hun

:dust: keep my FX for you! :hugs:

thanks for the replies, I told hubby that we need to try to do it tonight. arghhh I really thought all the BDing was done. I hate sex on schedule but we have to do it to get pregnant. I really hope I get my BFP this month

You don't need to dtd every day - every other day is supposed to be fine. So if you dtd cd11, and you got pos opk on cd12 you could dtd on cd12 if you want, and then cd14. The cd10 and 11 effort may be enough. It's best to dtd before ovulation anyway. If you get pos opks for a few days then I'd keep going every other day for a while.

thanks sunflower, I will definitely try to BD tonight (I really hope DH can perform, poor thing it's not easy for him) and than go with EOD till I ovulated for sure. It's just such a shame that I didn't ovulate early like the previous months. It just shows I am not that regular like I thought I was. I am sooooo hoping to get my BFP to stop this BD madness soon lol

There's nothing more annoying than BD like crazy only to find you haven't ovulated yet. I find more and more that my instinct is right. Hope u get yr BFP soon!

hiya so managed to BD last night which was the first positive OPK day, but I am still getting positive OPKs this morning, my ovulation pains gone, no more EWCM so I am not sure if I already ovulated but why is it still positive? Would you still get a positive OPK if you already ovulated. I don't think my DH will be happy to BD again tonight which will be 4 days in a row but what if I haven't ovulated yet. Sorry for all these questions but trying to understand. So is it better to try to BD tonight again or the next day which might be too late?

Hi Maximus, don’t worry about all the questions it can be confusing. I think the OPKs show positive when you have the LH surge which is supposedly just before ovulation so possibly you haven’t ovulated yet but likely will very soon. I had the exact same experience as you in that I had no more EWCM but still got a positive OPK the next day, me and the DH had truly run out of energy by then so just trusted that we’d done enough BD beforehand. I got my BFP at the weekend so it was!

I think if you’ve BD’d the past 3 days you should be covered. Sperm can take something like 12 hours to reach an egg and can also lay dormant somewhere along the way (for up to 5 days!) until they sense an egg is released. I think you’ve given yourself a really good chance already xx

thanks Nivetha28, I really hope we have done enough and like you I get my BFP, we have been trying for months with similar BDing but so far nothing. so if I am still getting positive OPK today , does it mean I haven't ovulated yet?

You should only rely on the first positive test. Once the ovulation test tests positive for the LH surge, it will continue to test positive throughout the surge. If your surge is two days long then you will have a positive ovulation test for 2 days in a row.

My surge lasts for two days

FX :dust:

ok thanks so I am just wondering though is it ok not to BD on the second positive OPK day but BD the day after? Maybe I will never know which day is best :(

I have read loads on this very subject. It seems that there are as many opinions as there are women out there lol. The most consistent advice I've gotten or rather read about was that the three days before ovulation is the best time to have intercourse.

Here is a good article worth reading: https://www.justmommies.com/getting...es-getting-pregnant/best-time-to-get-pregnant

The day of ovulation: You might have heard or might believe that the best day to get pregnant is the day that a woman ovulates. It is important to know when you ovulate and to try to time intercourse close to ovulation, but the day of ovulation is not the best day to get pregnant. Researchers have studied the timing of sexual intercourse in relationship to ovulation in order to determine which days are the most likely to result in pregnancy. Surprisingly, according to research published in the Journal of Reproductive Medicine, what they found was that the day of ovulation was not the best day of a woman’s cycle to conceive.

The day before ovulation: Interestingly, the day before ovulation is actually a better day to conceive on than the day of. This may be because sperm that are ejaculated the day before ovulation have had time to mature and reach the egg.

Two days before ovulation: Even more interesting, researchers have found that a woman’s chance of conceiving two days before ovulation is just as likely, if not more likely, as the day before ovulation. What this means for couples trying to conceive is that timing intercourse to occur a couple days before ovulation and the day before ovulation will give them the greatest chance of conceiving.

Three to four days before ovulation: You may have thought that timing intercourse 3 to 4 days before ovulation would cut your chances of getting pregnant, but actually having sex on either of these two days will give you a better chance of conceiving than having intercourse on the day of ovulation.

Five days before ovulation: The first day of a woman’s fertile window may also result in conception but realistically the chances of conception are best starting at 4 days before ovulation through the day just before ovulation.

hi all ok we managed to BD again the day I ovulated. so now its a waiting game, another 2 weeks of hell
