Ladies I need your advice.... Isaac is sleeping a lot in the day like 4-5 hours between feeds but then is wide awake for a lot
Of the night, it's exhausting!!! He's 10 days old now has his weight check today but he's defo putting on weight,
I can see it in him! Have any of you experienced this? what did you do to change the routine a bit??
Also when he's feeding he vomits loads of it back up and then needs more... Does anyone else's baby do this, I don't know how to stop him bringing it all up xxx

Sick ups are normal unless baby seems in pain or is huge amounts etc try keeping him upright about 15 mins after feeds and burp well.

Breastfeeding is hard at first and babies tend to be very nocturnal at this age as they don't know the difference from morning and night and they mainly slept at we moved and played while we slept in out tummies. He will soon get more awake in the day so should sleep more at night. Keep doing as your are you're doing fab, once you hit 6 weeks its a breeze:)

Colleen....it does get easier. Dont worry about routine so early on!!! My lg is nearly 6 months and we have no routine at all with her feeding and never have. She has booby when she wants booby lol. In the early days she was awake during the night every 2 hours and she still wakes 2-3 times a night.
Sickness is a totally normal thing. Like buttonbear said keep him upright for a bit of a feed. Unless he is showing any signs of discomfort then he should be ok.
You are doing an amazing job with breastfeeding. Keep at it!!!!

Thanks ladies... Ive really been struggling as ive been in hospital with him, ive had an infection so been poorly and you know what' it's like in hospital you don't sleep well anyway let alone being woken by your baby too, I'm home now and my partner has been helping a lot at night so starting to feel better in myself now with some proper sleep xxx

It does get easier Hun but baby is still very young for a routine. DD didn't go more than 2 hours between feeds for weeks and there were points were she fed forever an hour...I'd have 45 minutes off where I was probably changing her nappy lol!

When he's a bit older he'll work out night and day, you can help by getting a bedtime routine going. We started bath, book, booby, bed around 3 months then switched it to bath, booby, book and bed so she had a story after her milk and was awake when I put her down.

Sounds like you're doing great especially as you've been poorly. Hope you are on the mend.xx

I can't get in a routine yet, chase feeds differently everyday. He cluster feeds one day then not so often on another.

I haven't bought any monitors yet so I'm going to do that this week and start going upstairs with him and putting him down after a feed xx

I agree with the others. At that age you kind just have to go with the flow. The only thing I would try is to wake him up every 3hrs or so in the day and try feeding him to see if that makes him sleep better at night. I also found it helped to take as long as possible over the last couple of feeds in the evening so that LO was well topped up before bed. Sometimes at that age you just have to change to fit their scedual though! Try a nap for you during the day if you can.
