Nearly there..... Nurse Consultation

Hi Ladies,

We have our nurse consultation next week!! So we will be starting IVF treatment very soon. It's felt like an age getting here!! As we're away for Xmas & New Year we want to wait until January to start, as I don't want to be taking the drugs while away. Luckily I'll be expecting AF on the last few days of December/first few of January, so not too long to wait. Will be something to look forward to once we get back from sunshine!

Hubby has just gone and got himself on the school ski trip in February though, so Im praying that the EC & ET won't be around then. Otherwise we'll have to delay it again (

What can I expect at the consultation?

At our nurse consultation we had to go through loads of consent forms, spoke about the meds, was shown how to inject and mix the meds etc and given dates for scans and bloods. I was starting that cycle though so don't know how it works when you are starting later. Do you know what protocol you'll be on. I see in your signature that you have endometriosis and low reserve, I am in the same boat xx

That's kind of what I was expecting, so that's good. No we haven't been told which protocol will be on yet. I'm guessing we'll find that out at appointment too but expecting long.

I've looked at my calendar again and might be able to start on the December cycle.... It would mean starting downreg the last 5 days of holiday, so would need to check with nurse re time difference etc. The consultant at last meeting mentioned i'd be on the spray but I don't know for sure yet.

Yes only just found that out. The hospital missed it when had the scan done there. The IVF clinic picked it up by having the exact same scan done!!

Yeah I am on long protocol too, I was told the process will be 6 weeks from down regulating to finding out if pregnant or not.
Well that's easier if you're on the spray whilst away as would probably be harder to inject. I am on bureselin injections for down regulation.
That's crazy isn't it that you had the exact same scan with different findings, I found that the sonographers at my IVF clinic seemed far more knowledgeable than other scans I had done previously.
I'm doing good thanks, just down regulating at the moment so nothing too exciting going on yet but its nice to be feeling like I am doing something xx

Yes just knowing that you've started the process now is enough. Hope it doesn't drag too much until the next stage for you!

I agree the clinics are so much more knowledgable and they just seem to care a lot more, rather than you just being another number. When I called the clinic for something after my first appointment she knew instantly who I was, didn't have to give any info. It felt nice xx

So we had our nurse consultation today.....

We start our first cycle around 9th Dec (depending on AF Start date) so expecting to start down reg 29th Dec!

Will be on the spray then 225 of Gonal F. They're predicting first DR scan either 7th or 14th Jan. Mixed emotions....... excitement and fear.
