Naming after parents

I like just AJ but I imagine the following combo regularly happening to him

What's your name!
AJ
What does that stand for?
Alexander John
So your name is Alexander John then?
No. Its just AJ
No I know it is. You want to be called AJ. But its Alexander John though?
No. Its just AJ!!
What's on your birth certificate?
AJ
Not Alexander John?
No! If it was Alexander John id have said it was Alexander John. My name is just AJ. Trust me, I know my own name... My mums a bitch man

And I think it'll be a common frustration for him lol

So its fairly common to name after some and not the other

I think id feel bad for my mum though
Although I doubt she would want her named Agnes either so who knows, ha x

We named our daughter Eleanor Sophie, which had no family relevance at all. It seems likely that our second baby is a boy and we're using my OH's dad's name (Andrew - he passed away a number of years ago) and my dad's middle name (William) as middle names. We're then picking a first name that we both like. Both our mums' names were old fashioned and neither of them seem to mind that our LO isn't named after them. I think it's perfectly acceptable. I always thought it would be lovely to use my OH's dad's name if we had a boy as he never got to see his grandchildren.
