Name worry?

Hey

Well, me and my partner decided that we are going to call our baby girl Lily. We are also going to give her his surname, which is White.

Now, I think it's just me being silly but after telling my family the name, my Grandma told me their used to be a brand of sanitary towels called Lily Whites.



I know it really shouldn't matter but it seems to play on my mind an awful lot. I just wondered what your opinions were? Am I just overthinking too much?

I wouldn't worry at all to be honest... I've never heard of the brand Lily Whites and, by the time she is old enough for "mocking" to take place, are the kids going to know?

I am in a similar boat to you... my OH really wants our little girl to be called Layla. I haven't got a major objection to the name but there are names that I prefer... the only problem I have got is if boys start saying "do you want a Lay, Lay" which is is playing on my mind... xx

My girls last name is White, and i loved the name Lilly when i was pregnant with my first but didnt call her it due to this reason, i was only 19 and knew of the brand and so did all my mates, that was 6 years ago so the "younger generation" might not know it, it is down to personal choice but i didnt wanna risk the chance of her getting bullied at school.

I love the name Lily White also! But then I'm biased I'd never heard of this brand either, I think it's obscure enough that most people wont notice... its not like you're calling her "Always Ultra Thin" or something!

Can't you double barrell her first name so she's not Lilly White!! A lady i work with called her little girl Lily-Mae and i think thats just as nice and also will stop the potential name calling!!

I like the name Lilly White but also haven't heard of the sanitary towel.

There are over 500 people called Lily White on Facebook so it can't plague them that much.

If anyone jokes, it will be older people to you.

I doubt the kids will know and your child will be none the wiser.

im sorry im a bit older and chuckled because i remember be given a lilly whites towel in a paper bag at school it was one of those things u never forget! i for that reason wouldnt use it but most of the younger generation dont know what it is so if you like it go for xx

I think they were called Dr Whites not Lily White so I wouldn't worry! I'm sure they were the ones that came with the belt many years ago!! x
