my poor doggy

well I got up this morning to find a blood splattered utility room the 2 labradors slept in there on there huuuuuge beanbag last night as they got soaked on there walk due to the thunderstorm we all got caught in.

well oscar has split his tail open agin!hes done it several times and usually a few trips to the vet and bandages later hes ok.but this time it was bone

anyways after a rush to the vet at 11:30,along with 2 kids n a hyper lab,theyve decided to amputate a 3rd of his tail! theyre doing it tuesday poor doggy.mind yo hes sooooo stupid he probs wont notice heres them at xmas,oscars the 1 with white tinsel on his collar

cos hes such a happy doggy he wags it all the time,and its rather long too,even by labrador standards.and of course when hes out he jumps in and out of bushes which is how he originally split it.hes been back and forth to the vets since xmas.Im assuming last night he must of banged it on the wall or something.last time he banged it on the dining room chair,it doesnt take much.

Oh goodness, poor thing!! hope it doesn't happen again once part of its tail is taken off

well the vet has already said theres no guarantee at some point we wont have to have more tail cut off bless him.he really is such a happy dog he never stops wagging it.at one point the vet even taped his tail to his back leg to see if that would help it heal he jst got frustrated.the worst thing is after the op it will take a month to heal fully and so he will be on lead exercise hes gonna be so hyper

aww he sounds adorable! I have a lab too, they are just lovely friendly dogs.

awww what colour?both mine are yellow.id love a big black lab but to be honest my 2 are so inseperable i think theyd not take kindly to another dog.they are ok with other dogs bt at home i think would be different.theyre brill with kids too.we got lottie the oldest dog when kiara was less than a year old so theyve grown up together.

Aww poor thing! My neighbours lab hurt it's tail & it wouldn't heal properly cos she won't stop wagging it so the amputed most of it. She is fine now & wages her stump like mad!

It'll be difficult having him on lead only walks. My lab had a hip replacement when she was 2 & it was a nightmare, we had to keep her in a home made pen type thing in house for 2 months & only short walks with us holding a sling supporting her weight. They are such happy dogs & it's so difficult not being able to give them the freedom they are used too, still needs must!

Poor boy, although Im sure he will soon be wagging his slightly smaller tail at speed again soon.

Our Boxer Mika destroys things with her tail lol! It constantly wags and its so strong! She's always knocking glasses and cups off our coffee table!!

thanx ladies ive passed on the hugs and good wishes to oscar.as hes oblivious to the whole thing he wondered what was going on poor thing he only had a short walk tonight keeping him away from all bushes etc.he wasnt happy and is sulking on his beanbag

mine love kids,but they tend to get bit excited but theyre real softies.if anyone wants a dog for a friend for kids i'd certainly recommend labs

oscar went in for his op this morning the vets has rung and his tail is worse than expected and they want permission to cut all except the first 10cm off virtually a tailess labrador i think he will look funny and hows he gonna wag it?????
