So i went to my 28week mw appt yesterday, and had the most horrid experience!!

firstly she was a horrid person, very unfriendly and somewhat scary!
then i explained to her about the movements, she goes oh have u been counting, i said nope not really because sometimes im unsure if it is a movement inside, she goes' do you know your supposed to count till 6pm' :S
basically talking down to me and making me feel poop
then she got up and pointed towards the bed, so i jumped on and she started to push on my belly, and OH MY GOD did it hurt, i was cringing and making faces but boy that didnt stop her, she pressed down so hard i felt my food come up. She said to me 'can u feel the baby now' i said no, her response 'WELL IT IS MOVING YOU KNOW' :( i actually genuinely couldnt feel anything!!!

anyhow she criticized me abit more about the way i got of the bed etc, i explained to her my pubic bone hurts, so when she measured me she actually pushed down so hard on my bone i squealed :(

and then....

she says' do you eat iron rich foods', my response ' i do but not alot'...she actually looks at me in disgust and says 'do you know what iron rich foods are?!' oh my lord do i look like a freaking idiot to you or what, i didnt understand why she was talking down to me like that,

i actually couldnt wait to get out of that room and just felt like crying, i cant believe what some mw's are like, we're going through such an important time, and are so vulnerable, them silly moo's cant even crack a bloody smile!!

anyone else been through this??im hoping i dont get her on the actual day i give birth, i will scream so loud!!

Is this your normal midwife? If not I'd report her. Who does she think she is talking down to you like that.

I've not had experience of a horrible midwife but I've heard a lot about them. Don't let her upset you honey she's not worth it.

bitch!! omg!! they rile me!! some are soooo bad! but u do get the odd lovely one (usually ditzy who dont know her arse from her elbow but lovely all the same!!) , i was told to send Madison to a dietitien, my reply "my 6 month old is NOT going to a dietitien when she only eats healthy food, maybe you should take yourself off to her before you start criticizing others weights!" she had no response and didnt refer Madison! and now Madison is slimming out loads!! she was just chunky! anyway grrrrr REPORT her!! and no offence they can do harm to the placenta pushing like that stupid cow xx

She sounds like a right cow! Next time request that you are not given an appointment with her. Your sore pubic bone sounds like SPD - it can be excruciating when pressure is applied to the pubic bone. Did she mention that to you? Also you don't always feel all babys movements and I have never been told to count movements. If I notice a drop in movements though I always call either the maternity unit or the antenatal clinic and they take me in for monitoring. Often lots of movements show that I just haven't felt. Especially when I was around 28 - 31 weeks. Sorry you had such a nasty MW!

Xx

That is horrible. I would put in a complaint about her and ask not to be seen by her. I've seen a different midwife every appointment. Some are friendlier than others but they have never been rude or talked down to me. xx

Awww hun, :hugs: she sounds horrible!
Yes mine can be VERY patronising, she also gave me a lecture about how I got up off the bed as well. Surprisingly the last time I saw her she was lovely, like a different person! I didn't complain because I couldn't be bothered with the hassle but if you're not happy with seeing her maybe you could change midwifes?

Hey, refuse to see her and request another MW that is out of order xx

I have never been told to count the movements either..???? My mw asked me how regular they are and I told her they varied daily, but generally I could feel something every day, she just said if I become worried for anything to call!! Your mw sounds like a right cow!!

what a cow bag. how dare she patronise you. there is no need to treat you like that.

i would defo complain and ask not to see her, i am always someone that says i would of told her at the time but i know i wouldn't im too much of a wimp. xxx

What is it with moody cow MWs?! That is soooo unprofessional. Definitely report her and refuse to have an appointment with her again.

Sorry to hear you've had an unpleasant experience. Hope you get a nicer MW next time! x

This is me! Although when she told me off about getting off the bed wrong, I made a passive agressive comment, she knew I was pissed off!!!

lol. i probably would of commented with that.

oh sorry should i fly off of the bed. xxx

haha thats a good one, I turned round to my friend who was with me and said "listen to her talking to me like an old school teacher" then laughed! But my face was bright red and I was really annoyed.

Confuzed - if you do see her again, tell her you'd appreciate being spoken to like an adult!

x

That is discusting!! I would definately report her and make sure you do not get her again, what an awful person, sorry to read this x

The cheeky cow! Counting movements till 6pm?! What's that about? I haven't been able to feel baby for a lot of my pregnancy, even got sent to hospital once and she actually kicked the probe off my tummy but I still didn't feel anything - some people just don't so there's no point being arsey with you. Also I've seen quite a few different midwives and some of them say to count the movements to see if you get the ten, but others have said that's a load of shite and as long as you remember having felt some movement that's enough.

You're about to become a parent - it's totally unacceptable for this woman to speak down to you and treat you like a child/idiot! I think you should just request not to see her again if you don't feel like complaining! The bitch!

oh I will make sure I don't see her again, she was horrid, and I just remembered another thing she said to me.. she asked if im drinking enough water, I said Yup defo having atleast 2l a day, stupid cow only then says 'make.sure its 2-3l) Ello that's what I just told u erghhh, I've forgotten her name tho :'(.

I have not been told to count??? Should I.. I don't think the movements would go up to 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 every time?

Not going to start counting now... actually babe is moving while I am on here.. she doesn't like the MW either xxx

Sorry you had such an awful time! Hopefully you won't have her again!

Erm ... how are we supposed to get up off the bed? My MW is fab and very chilled out and hasn't ever said anything about how I get up after being measured? x

No! It just means count how many times in a 24 hour period you notice the baby moving, not sure what you mean by going up to 6-7-8 etc, but no anyway! This is what some midwives keep asking me/others - have you noticed 10 movements in the last 24 hours? But other midwives say this is a load of shite. Does that make sense or have I burbled a load of confusing nonsense?

What a cow! I agree with some of the others, just make sure you get an appointment with a different one next time, but also tell someone. I have changed hospitals due to hearing horror stories from new mums about midwives at the hospital I was booked in at! Some of them are in the wrong job. I always find 'do you enjoy your work?' makes them feel shit and me feel better. x
