Hi Ladies,

This is my first pregnancy and as you can see from my ticker im 12 weeks today with my first scan on wednesday. I just wanted to ask a few little questions from pregnant ladies later on in their pregnancies or people who have had children before?

1. When did you start feeling the baby move?
2.When did you have a proper baby bump?
3.Anything you wish you would have been told early on?

And just any general advice im only 21 and as never been preg before dont really know alot :oooo:

Thank you all x

Hey hun ,

Congratulations on your pregancy, I didn't feel my baby move until I was 19 weeks, I had a proper baby bump at about 5 months.
There's a brilliant book you should buy called 'what to expect....the first year ' and I found it so helpful it's full of really good advice and information and this forum is also great for advice.

Thanks Katie i have quite a few pregnancy week by week books but restrain myself for going beyond how far i am as want it to be something new each week but maybe a book like that is something i need so i can read up about everything! xxx:)

Congrats on your pregnancy!

I haven't felt deffo felt baby move yet but I do have a bump.

This is my first pregnancy too so I know how you feel, it can be a bit overwhelming at times. My advice would be to try and relax and enjoy every moment you can!

My only bit of advice would give u is get plenty of sleep while you can lol, the first few weeks after you have given birth can be very exhausting. I found the first two three weeks the hardest but now ruby is sleeping through the night she is 7 weeks old. From about 4 weeks old I started a bedtime routine of bath, bottle and bed and found this really helped.

Hey there, Congratulations :)

1. I felt baby move at about 18 weeks but just little pops and thing, real movements about 23/24 weeks, what I will say is that every woman is different and will feel their bubs at different times :)

2. Baby Bump, I guess would have to be about 20/21 weeks and then it was still tiny, at my 28 week appointment I thought he wasn;t growing as my bump was so small and spoke to the midwife who said he was 2cm bigger than he should be but nothing to worry about :)

3. Things I wasn;t told - hmmmmmm, the increase in hormones, it'll have you balling or screaming anytime, My boobs OMG they really really really hurt and I felt like I could cut the nipples off, it has settled down now though and I have just turned 30 weeks, has only happened once in the last 3 weeks and then it was because I was cold :) I found running around half naked helped with that :dance::dance::dance: OH it didn;t help so much :)

All I would say is take each day as it comes, your growing a human it's a good thing :)

Oh and this forum has been my lifesaver when it comes to questions, the women on here are AMAZING and I am never leaving even after baby is here lol :) xxxxx

Hey congrats on ur pregnancy!

This is my first baby, I first felt baby move at around 11wks, it was like popcorn popping. I'm now feeling proper kicks, have been feeling proper kicks since 15/16wks.

I bloated massively from 5wks, but didn't have a proper bump til about 14ish wks. By 16wks it was more noticeable.

Every woman is different, so don't base urself on everyone else because you'll only worry yourself if u don't feel baby as early as other people.

Enjoy ur pregnancy :) x

Congrats on your pregnancy! I felt baby at around 17 weeks then had my first major kick the day I turned 19 weeks. I started showing at around the same time but think I had a proper bump at around 24 weeks. Advice I would give is about all the symptoms you go through that no one ever really tells you about such as spd, funky discharge, diarrhea, varicose vains, stretching pains, how baby feels in you when your near the end-baby grinding on the pelvis etc plus a few more! Be ready for any of it!

Congratulations on the Pregnancy Laura, Was u shocked? Im 26 weeks pregnant now although they keep changing how many weeks i actually am haha.. I was measured and told my baby is small. Im having a boy i found out which would explain the footballing kicks. I started to feel him move from 19weeks on, it felt more like i needed the loo (bad curry) but then like butterflies. The first kick that i actually saw freaked me out but was lovely. I dont have a big bump considering i only have 3months left. His movements are strong now. Best advice i can give through living with it for the first time is if your uncomfortable laying down... try and prob yourself like a hospital bed... My boy hates me laying on my sides so i find this hard. If you need a chat or anything as this is my first aswell im around via message. Good luck and enjoy!! Alice xx

Thank you all x

We told people close to us after the first scan. After that then people that didn't know us well just found out through me looking rather round lol.

I got my proper baby bump at around 25 - 27 weeks but I know for some people it's a lot sooner.

I wish I'd made sure I told the doctor or midwife things before they developed rather than just thinking id be ok and really I wish Id been a lot more vocal to them about what I was experiencing. I wish I'd got the nursery done before she was here as its so hard to do it all now and I wish I'd made the most of having sleep lol. I also wish I'd listened to people when they said its tough at first which it is but does get better and finally I wish I had enjoyed it all more and made the most of being pregnant because it really is brilliant and id say as good a feeling as when you hold baby for the first time.

Oh and I wish I'd read more about my options during birth and about what goes on as it scared me not having a clue

Congratulations!! :D

I was also very very bloated from around 7 weeks, I actually went and bought my first pair of maternity jeans at that point! Although now when I look back at photos I realise just how slim I was lol and I always thought I was fat! ha
I had a definite bump by 20/23 weeks. Again nothing compared to now lol but by 28 weeks I started to feel uncomfortable and restricted. Now I just feel like a whale lol but loving my bump!
I was feeling little popping sensations from around 18 weeks and proper movements from around 24/25 weeks. And now my belly is always moving and squirming! And a jab in the ribs actually hurts a tad! hehe

Also my first pregnancy so only real advice I can give is that everyone's pregnancy is so so different so take each day as it comes and get to know what's right for you, try not to compare too much to others. Don't take any notice when people say your either tiny or huge for whatever stage you are, we are all different, and sleep whenever you need to while you can! ;)

Only thing I've found surprising is how the littlest things can actually affect you so much and out of the blue! A five minute walk and I've been passed out for the rest of the night on occasions! lol

This forum also has been a godsend!! You can ask these ladies absolutely anything! So much support on here it's amazing! :)

Hope this helps, welcome and congrats again and all the best! :D xxxx

I was 19 weeks when I first felt baby, and didn't get my bump til about the same time, but I'm pretty chubby anyway so just looked like I had an even fatter tummy!!

Enjoy being pregnant because it's a long time to go through if you hate it!! lol. I'll really miss my LO moving when they are out.

I did my nursery not long after the 20 week scan and am pleased I did cause later on in the pregnancy the thought of painting/putting together furniture/sorting stuff would have been very tiring.

Don't buy too much stuff - I have been completely overwhelmed by gifts and this baby has so much stuff already, hardly any of which I have bought!!! Everyone loves a baby...

Have a lovely pregnancy - and everyone on here is fab - no question is too silly/stupid or disgusting to ask - it WILL have happened to someone else!!! xxx
