My fiancé is wonderful!!!!

there is speech therapy on the NHS too.

Hopefully I won't do this! My fiancé and I have a very strong opinion of why sort of behaviour we expect from Imogen. We have already talked about the fact that we will expect our second child to behave as beautifully as Imogen does (most of the time!) we won't be using her downs syndrome as an excuse for any sort of bad behaviour! Luckily this expectation is already within me after all of my years as a teacher- my own daughters will not get away with anything, just as the children in my class don't! Ha!

God you sound like my mum :D. She was a paediatric nurse and we had to virtually be dead to get a day off school lmao xxxxxxx

Was just browsing and came across this.
My little sister had downs syndrome she is nearly 21 now, i remember we had a lady come round like a health visitor who specialised in downs and gave my mum some help and suppport aswell as introducing my sister to makaton, and also bought different kinds of toys round.
There were 4 of us when we were growing up ( me, sister, 2 cousins) and we all treated each other the same and noone was none the wiser that she even had downs until we were old enough to go to school and then people pointed it out and asked what was wrong.
She went to a mainstream primary school where she had fantastic 121 teaching in a normal classroom with everyone else.
I think it takes alot of courage to raise a child with downs and its my biggest fear if my little one has it.
Sorry this might be a bit pointless just wanted to share xxx

that sounds like portage visitors. Theyre fab!

I don't think Bedfordshire has portage people. I think I remember during my downs syndrome training at school (prior to LO's diagnosis) that Bedfordshire do not provide this service!

Baby brain - ha ha- I am definitely like your Mum then... But look how great you turned out! Hee hee! I bet you don't take many sick days now either, or make much of a fuss when you do get a little bit Ill! I bet in fact that you're pretty hardcore when it comes to being unwell! Xxx

Aw that is wonderful! Your little girl couldn't get better parents! Xx
