2/9/15 (due date)
7.30 Woke to get my LB ready for nursery and felt a gush. Waters had went over my bed. Rang hospital and they told me to come up.

1.30pm id a speculum examination and was told it wasnt my waters as nothing trickled out. She said it wasnt 100% i could just have a slow leak.

2pm seen the doctor and had an ecg due to having an increased heartrate. Took some bloods to test for amaemia and they also found that id a heart murmer. The doctor that done the ecg was a bit of a k**b and was really rude because i was convinced it was my waters even tho i was told it wasnt. She told me if it was my waters the wouldnt stop they would constantly leak - it was probably discharge or my bladder!!! I had told her i can still feel leaking but in the end she discharged me. Mw said she would ring me later with blood results and i can update her but not to be scared to ring back if theres been any more gushes or pains start.

7.20pm
Mw rang with results & suggested i went onto 1 iron tablet a day. I updated her about still feeling damp but was happy to leave me till i had another gush or contractions.

11.15pm
Woke with cramps in stomach. After having 3/4 i started to time them. Very irregular between 6&8 minutes

3/9/15
1am
Woke OH as I was sure this was the start of labour. Had a show & Contractions were coming every 4-5 minutes. Got ourselves ready and last minute things packed

1.25am
Rang hospital to let them know. She said i could head on up or i could have a bath and Some pain killers and ring before i headed up. Took two paracetamol and was getting ready to run a bath. OH & his mum begged me just to go up as they were scared i would leave it too late.

1.40am
They convinced me! rang hospital to let them know i was heading up

2am
Arrived at hospital
I was saying on the way up theyre going to tell me im about 2cm and ill be sent home. I was coping with the pain really well so theres no way i could of been that far along! I was preparing for a long night and day of pain!

2.15am
Got checked. Was 7cm! OH & i couldnt believe it! Shocked was an understatement! Talked through birth plan with the mw. She tried to get me into the pool but because my heart rate was above 100 i had to just go to the normal labour ward. I honestly wasnt that bothered aslong as she arrived safe! Also made me aware that she couldnt feel any waters so it must have been them that went!! I knew it! Lol

Got up to labour ward and had my heart rate re checked and it had went down to 87! Mw was more gutted than me about this cause i could have got the pool! I told her again i really didnt care i was happy enough where i was. I remember looking at the clock at it being 3am and i started. On the gas and air. I didnt like it in the beginning but i put up with it. Tried the ball bit i was far too uncomfortable. Set the ball on the bottom of the bed and i lent over it while standing on a big cushioned mat. Id one midwife behind me sitting on the mat, the studebt mw on my right hand side and partner on the left holding my hand. My hair started to irritate me and the student asked if i had a bobble to tie my hair up with - i stuck my hand up (id one on my wrist) and ended up punching her in the face!!! I was mortified. I couldnt apologise enough haha! Looked at the clock it was 3.20 at this point i gave up with the gas and air. The contractions were coming strong and fast. Not long after id the urge to push. God it seemed like forever! Eventually her head popped out and she started squeeling the place down!! She wasnt even properly born and already a little diva lol! She had also spun round at the last minute and was back to back! Next contraction she was here at 3.36am and was placed on the bed infront of me where OH was able to cut the cord. Surprisingly i only had a little graze. I attempted to BF it began well then she started to get very frustrated after atleast an hour of trying and help from the midwife I ended up going to bottle as she wouldnt relatch on.
We were placed in our own room where i got my tea and toast. OH and i managed to doze on and off for 2 hours till midwives etc started to come and go. By 7am i was sitting ready to go home haha but had to wait till the little one had all her checks. Eventually all checks were done and came back clear (apart from hearing - her ears were still damp so have to re-book) we were given the ok to head on home. my dad, MIL, 2SIL & son arrived to visit and take us home just as the photographer came. We got plenty of photos taken and some gorgeous ones of the two kids together. Left hospital at 1pm and arrived home with a well deserved mcdonalds lol!!

All in all i really did have an amazing experience. The midwives where outstanding and i apprechiate every little bit of their help - they really dont get the credit the deserve! Im So pleased it went quick and easy(ish) LOL and have a healthy baby girl to show off :) had a great first night with her. Fed at 10pm and she slept till 3.30 then down again till 8am. Hopefully she it keeps up! Shes so amazing i just cant stop looking at her!

Id like to thank everyone on the forum for their help and support theyve gave me throughout my pregnancy. Also a big thank you to Bunny for doing my labour thread <3 You are all amazing ladies!

So on that note.... id like you all to meet little Emily Patricia Ruby Aicken. Born 3/9/15 at 3.36am weighing 8lb. Xxx

Amazing birth story, and what a little cutie you got at the end of it ~ congratulations and thanks for sharing!!! On a different note I have a fast heart rate (always over 100) and a heart murmour and it really makes no difference to my day to day life.... I just accept it wouldn't be a good idea to do a sky dive!! X

Awwww Hun she is so adorable! Massive congrats! Still so impressed with your birth, amazing job! X

It was never above 100 except those times! She told me some womens murmours just apwar late in pregnancy! Another thing that shocked me... my mum knew since i was 4! Never thought of mentioning it to me. It clearly hasnt made a difference to my life either since i didnt know lol!

Thank you ladies!
Recovering well. Few cramps but thats expected as everything is trying to go back to normal. Had just a slight graze. It doesnt bother me until i need a wee it stings a little bit i find if i lean right forward while going it helps lol. Attempted to pick my LB up from nursery yesterday - its only 5 mins up the road. Had to get a lift home. My chest was so tight i was struggling to breathe and i also felt really sick and dizzy. Rested the rest of the day and will be taking it easier over the next few days. Even tho i feel fine my body is telling me different! Xx
