Ok, just a quick question.....

You know we're supposed to be feeling around 10 movements a day (roughly)... Well Francesca hasn't been moving much the last couple of days, I've only felt her maybe 4/5 times-ish... Question is... She now has hiccups. Does that count as movements?

I've listened to her heart through doppler and all seems ok. :) But if she doesn't pick back up to her usual wriggly self do you think I should call MW? Or am I just being paranoid?

Thanks girls xx

i think you do count that as movements. remember the 10 movements can be all together, they don't have to be spread out throughout the day (which is what i originally thought before mw told me). I think if you are really worried though, call midwife, they won't mind thats what they are there for :). Its better your not sitting worrying.

I remember your post was it not yesterday or something about her kicking really hard? or her fist pushing out or something along those lines. I'm sure things are fine hun. but like i said if you are worried, best not stress yourself out, give the mw a call :) x

Yehh, she'll like move once or twice and get herself in some kind of awkward position then not move from that position for the rest of the day lol :/ I'm sure it's just me fretting over nothing just wanted to make sure :) xx

i know how you feel hun, i worry about practically everything! It's hard not too because they are only wee babies. If you are really active, could be you're missing alot of movements, babies do have lazy days as well. If things sound okay on the doppler, that should be fine. I'd try and chill today, keep an eye on things, and if you still feel like this tonight or tomorrow morning, i'd call the mw :) - it will put your mind at ease at least, last thing we need is stress! x x

Well I got antenatal tonight, so I'll have a lil moan to the midwife there if she doesn't get jigging about again :)

I think I'm only worrying so much cause her movements suddenly slowed right down after I had a pint the other night and I'm blaming myself :wall: x

Sounds like a plan :).

Don't blame yourself hun, babies will move when they want to move really. Sometimes a really gentle feel of bump or drinking cold water can give give them a wee push though hehe xx

Just layed down and she started jiggling about... Little terror!! I swear they do it on purpose just to scare us sometimes......... x

Glad she had a good wriggle :)

I got told not to count hiccups hun xxx

Taa :) I wasn't sure about hiccups cause it's not them moving voluntarily :/ Ahh well... She's had her morning dance about now :) lol x

Haha that's good hun - they sure like to scares us!! I hadn't felt much the other day, got monitored and he moved 11 times in half an hour  cheeky monkeys xxx

Know i'm not meant to be in 3rd Tri

But just wanted to say I'm sure hiccups are classed as movement, I think its just any sort of moment from baby to show he/she is ok.

Didn't know that if the kicks/movement happens at the one time thats still classed as 10 movements, I thought it had to be spread out. What i've been doing is For example if baby is moving alot for 5 mins, then stops thats 1 movement. I've been counting it wrong then

:)

Maybe I'm wrong about the hiccups then.. I was sure I had read the other day when I was worried not to count hiccups too, maybe I'm talking out my bum lol xxx

Here's what I read the other day...

"The Fetal Kick Count is done in many ways. This is but one of the ways of counting and recording your baby's movement.

The first thing you want to do is pick your babies most active time of the day to begin. Do not set yourself for panic by waiting until the quiet times. Take a piece of paper and write down the time you start paying attention, put a check mark on the paper every time you feel movement (kick, twist, punch, turn). Do not count hiccups. When you have felt ten movements, write that time down as well."

But then I also read someone say that their doctor told them to count a set of hiccups as one movement - so not really sure what's right!

I think they like to confuse us lol

xxx

I'm not totally sure on the hiccups thing, i just gathered 'movement' as what you have actually felt, but i could be wrong!

I thought the movements had to be spread out too, but when i asked mw she said no you can feel them all at the same time, like in one wee session of movements together. or feel some at one point and some later on etc. as long as its at least 10 a day.

Well confusing  xxx

I didn't actually count as such with my 1st, I just looked at the clock when I had a movement and if a few hours or so had went by with no movement at least I could say it was..such and such time was the last one. Towards the end movement gets constant so it will be easy to know if something is wrong.

Thanks ladies :) Typically... After getting me worried this morning she's been going crazy today  x

Could just be freaking myself out..... But I don't think madam's moved today  I mean I could have missed it while I was asleep... But it was the wrong time for her usual movements! ARGH!!!!!! xx

hmmm i've had days like that too, when i'm so busy I just forget. Try the ole cold drink thing and see if u get anything, or gently prod ur bump see if u can wake her up. If nothing after a wee while and your concerned, i'd defo phone the mw. U dont wana take any chances.

I don't have any... All I have is water tea coffee and ovaltine :( and the water here makes me feel sick cause it's FULL of chlorine and limescale... no matter what you get lumps of white floating in it  not to mention that drinking anything makes me feel sick atm anyway

I've been prodding and jiggling bump for a while and haven't felt anything... I think I've just got myself all worked out after reading about a baby who was stillborn cause they'd strangled themselves with the cord in late pregnancy :( xx
