Motilium - thoughts?

Hi all

I suspect I do not produce enough prolactin. Has anyone successfully used Motilium to increase milk supply?

Did you get a midwife to prescribe (the first mw I mentioned a milk increasing drug to had 'never heard of such a thing'. Thanks love.)? You can buy it over the counter which I will do if necessary - dr google tells me it's low risk for side effects. Is it possible to get dr/mw to do a (blood?) test to check whether low prolactin is my reason?

I took it, just bought it over the counter, worked out pricey but couldn't be bothered to be dealing with all the questions from the doc. Took it 3 times a day & noticed a 50% increase in milk production (pumping) after 3 days. Would deffo recommend!

Also fenugreek is supposed to help, I bought some but never opened the packet so I can advise on that x

I'm thinking of trying this too, my supply is def low and I'm finding things tricky. I tried fenugreek which did help but it upset my stomach in the dose needed. I'll be interested to hear how you get on.

Saralouise, what dose did you take and for how many days? I thought you could only get a small number over the counter?

You can buy packs of 10 over the counter & I took 3 a day (& one at night if he woke) so like I said does work out pricey! But I found the boost really helped in the long run, I probably took it like that for a week then weaned down to one a day for another week, then stopped completely. My supply after stopping them was much better than my supply before so I can deffo vouch for them x

Got a prescription today for up to 20mg 3 times a day, starting with 10 though. Lets see what this does!

Worked for me! Within a few weeks lo started putting on loads of weight. I started out buying them but got a prescription easily enough!

Oh and still going strong a 9 months!

48 hrs in and already showing improvement. I leaked last night in bed and I was so happy I called dh to come and look!!
All I need to do now is learn to express and then Jess can have an evening bottle of expressed as she seems to be in the habit of a bottle before bed now whether she is hungry or not At least she only has 2oz in the bottle...
