Most terrifing day yesterday .

Thank you all so much :hugs: . I've not been able to let her go all day !

 I meant to reply to this earlier but my phone kept messing :(

The same thing happened with my son (he's 5) and I had tpo give him CPR, its terrifying :(

Did the hospital mention an apnea monitor? I used it for 8 months and it really helped me, don't think I could have coped (or slept) otherwise; pm me if you need to talk about it xxxxxxxxxxx

Omg Hun, that mothers intuition really did kick in. So pleased your lo is ok, I def think you need to get support and someone to talk to that's definitely horrific x x

I meant to reply to this earlier too, sorry  I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been for you :( So glad she's ok x x

Just saw this hun. OMG how scary for you! I hope you're all ok today!!!

*hugs*

Thanks Mamfy :hugs: they gave me a clip on thingy for her nappy and if she stops breathing at all it sounds an alarm . Which should reassure me I know but it wiill probably take a litte while .

It definitely will hun :(

You poor thing, it makes me feel sick that anyone else would go through that

 how terrifying :(
So glad she's ok. Hope the clip and the mat give you some reassurance. x

Big hugs! You reacted so quickly and you sounded so brave! xx

OMG this is so shocking. So glad you had that feeling to check on her, you defo saved her life hun no doubt.

This is one of my biggest fears and Oscar is now 8.5 months and I still don't let him out of my sight. I just cannot relax until he is over 1, even though I have sensor mat and video monitor!!

I know instinct takes over, when Oscars alarm went off (from a fault not because of him) I went onto autopilot as I ran to him, but I think you are an amazing mum

OMG you poor thing - I'm so glad you are both OK. I've been so paranoid something like that would happen to me, in fact when i was holding him the other day i was convinced he'd stopped breathing and went into a frenzied panic, ended up shoving him infront of the fan and he caught a breath.

I've just gone online and ordered the same movement detector. How lovely of your Dad to get it, any piece of mind helps. Try not to worry, i know that is easier said than done, i'm still waking up in a mad panic checking on him, but it will get easier the bigger they get.

Sending a big hug F&Tx

OMG only just seen this, you poor thing how scary but amazing that something told you to go and check and you did brilliantly. I've had an angelcare monitor since G was 7 weeks and it has given me such peace of mind.

oh gosh Ive just seen this  that mustve been so scary!!

Did the doctors say anything about the milk entering her lungs. Its possible to get an assessment to make sure she's swallowing properly and not getting milk into her lungs, Im sure its just a one off, but if it were me, Id want a proper swallowing assessment to reassure me. If it turns out her coordination isnt great you can get prescribed thickener for her milk which would make it easier to swallow safely.

Hope you dont think Im being out of line or upsetting you, its what I do in my work and I dont really trust doctors very much these days

and by the way, your instincts were just spot on, youre amazing, it scares me to consider if I wouldve been as instinctive as you were!

St Johns ambulance are running courses in community centres for parents, theres a big campaign on it at the moment, Im sure their website would have the info. It was free in my community centre.

No not in the slightest , Im not happy myself , I cant believe it just happened ya know ? I've an appointment with our local infant nurse in the morning and I want her to refer me to put my mind at ease . OH reckons I might need to have a word with her about her feeding anyway as she is inclined to gag while feeding . :hugs: thank you for your advice xx

Definately ask for a feeding assessment. If only for the fact that you get to meet someone cool like me ;) like I said, often there are simple things that can be done to dramatically reduce the risks, and as she grows, she'll need them less and less
