Hi! I'm about 6 weeks pregnant. I had a cold over the weekend the worst runny nose I've had in a while (no COVID I had to get tested to go back to work). Ever since I have been incredibly nauseous no puking (thank god) but idk how to get it to stop. It appears nature valley chewy peanut butter bars are the only thing that settle it and it's short lived. I've had maybe 2 hours today so far where I haven't felt gross! Any tips welcome! Also I have a new found respect for all pregnant women who came before me working though this idk what I expected but this wasn't it!

Thanks!
T

Everyone’s pregnancy/morning sickness is different so you need to find what helps you. I had a lot of ice lolly’s, and I know a lot of people have ice cubes which can help.

I completely agree with you, I have been lucky enough to be working from home but how people managed to get up everyday and go to work are incredible! I don’t think I’d have coped! Pregnancy is a lot harder than I ever thought it would be, but it will be completely worth it in the long run!

Good luck with your pregnancy, hopefully the morning sickness will be kind to you

Ice lollys and cold juice helped me a lot. Also apple slices. Seems it was mostly cold things I wanted! I hope it gets better for you soon. I was sick from week six to nineteen so I sympathise with how horrible it can be :(

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not alone in being moderately unprepared for pregnancy side effects! Your right though it will totally be worth it.

I was the same about just wanting cold things. Even the idea of a cup of tea made me feel nauseous! My morning sickness eased off at 18 weeks and thankfully I can drink tea again haha!

Really sorry you're feeling rough. I'm on my second pregnancy but with my first I felt COMPLETELY unprepared for just how bad the nausea would be. Like you I didn't have much vomiting but the nausea was near constant. With my second pregnancy it's similar.

The only thing that helps a little bit is eating little and often. I find that I find food that helps but also really quickly go off it. Crisps were helping for a while but now I can stand the thought of eating them. So I just have to keep trying things.

I found "listening" to my stomach really helped. Picture different kinds of food and see how your stomach reacts, could you see yourself eating that? Or are you completely put off? Go with whatever you can stomach, don't worry too much about being healthy at this stage, there will be plenty of time for that later in pregnancy when you feel better.

I hope you feel better soon. For me last time it went away around weeks 13-14.

I’m the same as you JenKat! Eat something a few times then go off it completely! It’s so hard! breakfast is a killer and I struggle with dinner too!

It is SO hard. Especially having to get up at night and eat something. I just want to grab something quick that I don't have to prep so I was eating two cereal bars at night. Then the other night, my stomach just went NOPE and it felt like I would throw up if I ate any more.

And feeling nauseated at this time of year with all the lovely food around is just cruel.
