I have been making a huge fuss about this subject saying I cant wait as at least its a good sign our baby is healthy!! BUT NOW.... No no no!! It started for the first time yesterday morning and my god its awful!! I thought ah its probably a one off.. but no.. it returned with a vengeance this morning!!! :( I cant believe how awful I feel.. Anyway I have a few questions so if anyone can help it would be so apprecaited!!!

- Is there anything I can eat or drink to make me feel less sick?
- How long does this last?
- also I have to commute into london everyday and am not sure how I am going to do it as my journey is over an hour and I need to throw up every second!! any advice on what to do?

Thanks xxx

My boss has been really good and I have worked from home this week as I have been a puker of amazing skill. I am not sure if that is possible for you, but it has helped me.

Everyone says ginger to make you feel better, I've not tried it, but by my bed I have rich tea biscuits and water and would nibble before I got out. I also find boiled egg and soldiers a good thing to eat which doesn't make me feel horrid.

It's meant to go by the 13th week...thats what I am hoping for..lol...so I have until Saturday, but obviously everyone is different. I found it was more nausea around Christmas time, then accumulated to vomiting this week, I think maybe it heightens a bit before it goes? I bloody hope so.

Hope you will feel better soon!

Not sure what advice to give you about having to travel to work, i cant even do i 5 minuite journey.
Ginger is suppose to help with nausea.
mine has finaly started to settle down a bit this week (nearly 11 weeks) but it was at its worst last week.

sea-bands!!! they are fab! in fact i'm gonna forage for them in a bit coz i feel sick already. i bought them when i was pg with millie, they are like bobbles with little hard balls on them which u put around ur wrists- its accupressure. so drug-free, harmless to baby and they actually work!!! work for travel-sickness too :D £8 from pharmacys.

my sickness with millie lasted about 10 weeks (until week 10 i mean)

Ginger yes, ginger biscuits.

Nibbling dry crackers sometimes helps a little too.

Mine started this morning - nausea and wretching. eugh.

Thanks for all your advice. I am going to try everything and let you know how I get on. I am only 7 weeks so its worrying to think this could go on for another 6 weeks.... hmm I guess its all part of the fun!!

Mine kinda stated today too - only feeling sick though, not actually being sick. Came on all of a sudden though - it was weird!

I too am worried about travelling. I work from home mostly, but a couple of days a week I have to commute to work which is a 4 hour round road trip! Not looking forward to that when I'm in the throws of proper morning sickness. Plus, when I'm 8 weeks I have to do a talk in front of the whole dept and I'm so worried that I'll just feel like crap. Oh the joys of first tri! Wouldn't change it though :D

Eating little and often seems to work - as much as anything does anyway!

Can't comment on the actual sickness, as I very rarely am (think it's my historically strong stomach  ) but I am constantly nauseous. I find it's a hell of a lot worse when I'm hungry, hence first thing in the morning. As Kiko said, try keeping plain snacks next to the bed to nibble before you get up, or if you wake in the night, just to keep your stomach ticking over, as something I read put it! Other than that try ginger, it does help a bit, I also find mint helpful as I think some of it's wind, and some people say fizzy drinks I guess for the same reason, although personally I've gone off them (a miracle as I'm the world's greatest diet coke addict!). Try to avoid acidic stuff - citrus fruit/juices - you may find that makes it worse. Kiko, I'm so jealous of your boiled egg though - the whole "you must cook your eggs properly" is ruining it for me. I miss eggs! you can't have soldiers without a nice runny yolk if you ask me...

To be honest I am probably not cooking them as well as I ought to. I was already 7 weeks pregnant before I realised so carried on with egg eating - although don't smoke or drink. Hard boiled eggs are quite tasty in their own way!

mine comes and goes but the only thing i seem able to eat is half a digestive at a time.

i personally hate ginger but found ginger extract tablets to be really good for nausea (on a non-pregnancy nausea that is). I got them from Holland & Barratt

Hope you feel better soon :(

It lasted around six weeks for me. All day every day. I had breaks, of course. Like I had a break over Christmas from it!! I don't get it now unless I don't eat in the morning so I always have a cereal bar when I wake up which frees me!

i have green tea with ginger root!! green tea is good for you and the baby and the ginger eases my stomach!!

its only 60p in tesco just now too for 20 bags :)

Don't you know everyone? Morning sickness is all in our heads! All we have to do is 'fight it'. Professer OH will be publishing his paper shortly - at which point all advice about ginger etc will become obsolete because obviously he knows best.

Thanks I certainly will pass that on.

lmao babyblonde, how foolish of us all not to realise! Some kind of shared delusion I take it? I think I shall develop some kind of anti-morning-sickness mantra to dispel my clearly pro-nausea vibes! Altogether now, girls, "My stomach is my friend... my stomach is my friend..."

I look forward to it's publication! I shall write my own article titled 'have a look at the toilet/sink/bath/road and the vomit that has just erupted out of my mouth and then tell me it's all in my bloody head'

LOL :D

Ha ha all your posts are soo funny!!

I did what was advised and ate toast when I woke up this morning and I feel so much better for it. Also a cup of tea helped!
