Pos with things like this would you use ur basic or what you actually get? My OHs basic is 24 (I think!) bit with all the overtime he can earn double or even triple his basic, but that money isn't guaranteed? I get confused when trying to work everything our because of this!

I would try and estimate as close to what it could be as possible when you apply.
If you underestimate you'll have to pay them back the following year and if you over estimate then you should get a lump sum in the new financial year x
