So I had my appointment this morning but had to see one of the other midwives as mine is currently on holiday... :-(

She seemed alright to start with bearing in mind I was 5 mins late for appointment... oops!

Anyway, she tested my sample and took my blood pressure etc - all which is fine :-)

I just didn't really like her attitude or the way she was with me. Anyway, she told me to get up on the bed thing so we could check baby's heartbeat which today she struggled with. I only managed to get a faint recording today of about 15 secs... I don't know what my princess was up to in there! She was kicking but we just couldn't get a decent heartbeat today... not like the previous ones :-(

Anyhow, she asked me how I was etc and I told her all about my experience last week with the whole 5 pints of milk consumption in one day etc and then she went off on one at me! "No wonder you had diarrhea (sp?) the next day. Don't do that again... it's bad for you. And if you are feeling under the weather like that drink water as milk really won't help"

God, I felt like a child!

Then she decided to go off on one about my GTT appointment at hospital... "make sure you don't eat after 10 and only take SIPS of water if you need to. You will mess up the test otherwise" :wall2:

God I could have slapped her at this point.

So anyway, I then managed to get the courage back to ask her about the HIP grant forms which she then filled in her part and told me to fill out and send off when completed etc.

I didn't even get to ask her about my experience over the weekend about my "leakage" that I had from my boobies :-(

I'm so annoyed. I so cannot wait to see MY midwife again on 29th :-)

Oh, and at 25 weeks... I am now measuring 31cm instead of the 25cm I was measuring 2 weeks ago when I was 23 weeks.... should I be worried?

Sorry for such a long thread but I really am peeved at the moment. I was looking so forward to the appointment etc and now I just feel so rubbish and down in the dumps :-( xxx

Ahh honey I actually know what you mean, my midwife is a biatch!! I don't get hardly anything told to me and I just go there and in and out within minutes! So annoying!
Just out of interest when they measure you, where do they measure to and from? X

They take the measurements from top of your uterus to your pubic bone x sorry you've both had terrible experiences with midwives x I've seen a few different and loved all of them x

i had this with my last midwife appointment, it wasn't my normal midwife and she was really rude, seemed like she was trying to rush my appointment, and wouldn't give me my matb1 so i could book my maternity leave just because i wasn't quite 25 weeks, i was 24+3, so now i won't see my midwife again until 28 weeks and my work will be pestering me for the form so they can organise cover for my maternity leave, also needed to talk to her about when i would be best taking my leave from as i originally planned to take it from 36 weeks but have an appointment with my consultant at 34 weeks to see if baby still growing and whether i will need to have him early or not.

Oh it was horrible today :-( So i'm having a munch on naughty sweeties to take my mind off things. It's ok for them - they know what they are doing and know what they are talking about etc - we don't! Grrrrr

As for measuring... she measures your bump from the top to the pelvic bone. Measurements "should" coincide with the amount of weeks you are... so for example last time - I was 23 weeks but measured 25 cm but you can measure a little more - it's only a guide and they don't panic or worry too much. However I am worrying a bit today as I am 25 weeks and now measuring 31cm!

Still, will see what happens when I see consultant and have my next scan on the 23rd :-) xx

aaawww that's awful too. She said something to me about the matb1 form and that she didn't have any to give me one today. I said I'm not sure if i'll need one (not working at the moment :-() but she did say that my normal midwife will give me one next time just in case I need it to make the switch from JSA to income support. xx

Sorry you didn't have a good appointment. I hate it when they make you feel rushed. I had my 25 week appointment today. I have never seen the same midwife twice so at least you get to see the same one the rest of the time.

As far as the measurements go... my midwife said they don't measure under 26 weeks!! Oh well! She had a feel around and said the top of my uterus was in the right place (about 2 inches above my belly button) but I wouldn't be measured until 28 weeks....

It seems a big difference in 2 weeks in your measurements...I'm not sure they are all that accurate all the time. Didn't PamMc on here have a similar measurement at 25 weeks - perhaps PM her and ask what happened...?

Wow 31cms!!! I'm only measuring 31-32 I thought that would have been an automatic scan just to have a peek not that its prob a problem but wow!! Ur gonna be uncomfy come 40 weeks!!

SmallPurpleCat - thank you hun. will give PamMc a small message and see how she is getting on :-) So sorry you don't get to see the same midwife :-(

Evie - I know... I'm kinda worried a bit that she's going to be really big.... it's bad enough when I have my moments thinking "how the hell is this baby going to come out of that tiny hole...."

I do carry a little extra weight on me anyway which could be why they don't seem to be all that worried. I don't know.

I guess more will become clear when I have the scan on 23rd :-)

Yer the 23rd isn't that far off sorta but she sounds like she didn't bother much to me I carry loads of extra weight I'm a 16-18 and I would have been like hello?! Oh and I have leaking nips allllll the time it's ok x

Same here hun - although on a really good day when not preggers a 14 top can sometimes suffice ;-)

But definately 16-18 at the moment. All my bump pics are on the 2nd trimester bump pics thread etc but have attatched bump pic for you to see at the moment... (taken just now) see what you think? xx

I wouldn't worry too much I have to go in for a scan on 9th if baby is too small they are going to advise me

aaawww. I'm sure everything will be fine hun.

Hidden twin...??? Is that even possible having already had two scans only showing the one??!! ;-) xx

Don't worry Munchkin, fundal height measurements are not always accurate, especially if it's a different person to normal who's taken it.

I read somewhere that if the baby is currently breech that tends to make the bump bigger, but it can be due to other things as well. i think if your mw was genuinely concerned she'd have referred you for a growth scan.

If your baby was fine at the 20 week scan, chances are it is fine now.

Yep I know three people that had hidden twins till the birth lol!! But I know loads of people with just allot if water x x
