Well I saw my midwife today - baby is head down and she said that I was a 'fair size' and raised her eyebrows! She said that baby is not a tiddler..

Anyway, I asked her if my bloods came back ok from my 28 wk appointment, more importantly my iron levels. She checked and then said, 'oh, they have dropped a bit, from 13.7 to 10.6'. She suggested I see the doctor this week to see if I need to take iron tablets :wall: However, this was blood taken 6 weeks ago - surely if they were falling then they are more likely to be lower now? I would have though she would have wanted me to have another test. I know that 10.6 isnt bad, its still within normal range but I would much rather them be higher before I give birth in the even that I happen to lose blood iykwim? Also my blood pressure has gone up a little but Im putting that down to more hassle Ive had from my sister over the weekend :gun:

So I see her again in two weeks. Also had my second Anti-D injection which chuffing well hurt! Overall Im pleased but think that the drop in iron is responsible for me not being able to get my breath at the top of the stairs and then having to sit down. We'll see.

wot a good baby! head down now, head engaged soon hopefully :)
oh they sed id hav a big baby 2 and he was 7.11ozs which i thinks not 2 bad!
u should ask 4 an extra blood test just 2 ease ur worries, sometimes i think they can be a little relaxed about these things. hope everythin goes smoothly for u xxx

How lax are they with these blood tests eh!! My MW told me a week past fri that the test she took at 28 weeks had come back 'insufficient sample', so no one had bothered to even try and get in touch to get another sample from me for like 6 weeks!! Seems we have to chase for everything!
:yay: for bubs heading in the right direction!! Did she measure you too?

Sorry to hear about the slow results of the bloodtest - bit of a long wait for results?!?!

I'm booked in for my first anti d in a couple of weeks but i've had one in early pregnancy so i know how much they hurt! i can sympathise with ya!

Hope you get your iron levels sorted xxx

Yes she measured me but frustratingly she didnt write it down and I didnt ask because I presumed she would jot it in my notes! Its really bad that we have to really look out for everything ourselves, my OH couldnt believe it - she was even going to let us go without giving me my Anti-D!

well done bubs for being head down :) its good if they get used to that i think

What a nightmare!! I wasn't told that my iron levels were really low when pregnant with my 2nd until after i had her! I was told i needed a blood transfusion but really wanted to go home so i just had the tabs, It's so annoying that some midwives are blahsay. x

My iron level was 10 after I had my C-section, I was given iron tablets. I was so not with it that I forgot where we lived, on the way home from hospital I asked my OH where we were going..that could have been down to sleep deprivation but I dont think it helped that my levels had dropped so quickly. I will be asking the doc for another blood test on Wednesday :)

Did you ask about your BH's RM? Glad babes right way down - can't believe she didn't write measurements down - sounds like she was half asleep!

Thats awful that you had to wait that long to be told you iron levels were low! Glad bubs is heading in the right direction though! xx

Yes..now this is funny..I asked her if cramping was usual nearing the end of pregnancy as I didnt have it before. She said yes. Then I said it always happens at the same time as my BH's. She looked at me with a puzzled look on her face and then said 'oh I thought you meant cramp as in cramp in your muscles..' :wall2:I should have drawn her a picture..anyway, she told me to ring my delivery suite if they got longer or didnt go away.

thats their answer for everything.........ring delivery sweet!! Way to brush it off like Gggggrrrrrrr xx

Cor lets hope she doesn't deliver babe!

hmmm, not sure it really sounded productive, hope the Dr is more helpful

Wales is the best

your midwife sounds like a right nightmare!! I cant believe how infrequently you see her too. And NOT writing in the notes?! Midwifes are the most sued health professionals, you'd think that they would be very into accurate record keeping!
