Midwife appointment..Hopefully..Anything new?

Its minus 15 today..
Snow..
Ice..
Having to walk there and back..
On a hill..
The surgery dont even know if the midwife is coming in..



On the other hand, is there anything different at the 40 weeks appt that i should expect?

Sorry, not got mine till tomorrow and as I'm technically overdue I'll be having a sweep I think. Doubt they'll offer you one just yet if it's gonna be exceptionally hard for you to get to hospital if it all kicks off but then they might want to get it out the way??

Ack, going to be so embarrased if she does want to do one, i havent tidyed that room! LOL I doubt she will.. though she might as im measuring big for dates

Lol! No real harm in doing it a bit early I would've have thought, would save you having to have another appointment in a couple of days! Are you feeling better now after that awful cough?

Yeah its mostly cleared up, cold air was irritating it more than anything i think

Kat get tidying that room! ermmm and be ready incase she will sweep you,

Can't offer any other advice, bever had a 40 week checkup. My last one was 34 and I have no more now till preop stuff at end of year

Lol never got round to tidying that particualr "room" .. SHe didnt even look though so its fine!

Had a sweep.. wasnt that uncomfortable to be honest, the walk was more painful!

She said it hasnt started dilating, but its soft and she could get a finger in, so she gave it a stretch.. whatever that means, and did the sweep. And said its thinned out to 1cm whatever that means!

Baby has moved to 2/5ths engaged, measuring 42, so still two weeks big!

In my notes she has put

Cx 1cm x 1cm. mid position. Vx spines -2

Any clue on that?

Ooh not sure about those notes, but yay for sweep + stretch!
The -2 might be the 2/5ths engaged as have heard it can be written that way I think?

I was told that when the cervix is 'normal', it 'hangs down' 2cms long, so maybe it being thinned out 1cms means it's got shorter? Then when it's flat it can start dilating.

Ugh so i think i stretched something walking this morning, got a constant pain in the side of bump now

Nah the sweep was fine, I was chatting away to the other midwife the whole time, Sex is more uncomfortable LOL

Well this sucks. No braxton hicks, No show, Even my general preggo discharge has buggered off lol so much for the sweep starting things. Only evidence that i was even there is that my pelvis is all achey from the walk!

Really hope something happens for you soon hun!
I would sujjest going on a few long walks to help things start but if its ice then don't lol xx
