Hi everyone.... What a week.

The last time I was on here, I mentioned about my waters breaking just before 9am on 21st Nov.

First of all, I just wanted to mention that my midwives had said from 33 weeks that my baby was head down. They said he was 3/5th engaged at 36 weeks and fully engaged at 38 weeks.

So.....waters ruptured as I was turning over in bed, not long before 9am.
Contractions started around 3pm.
By 6ish contractions were about 4-5 minutes apart, lasting around 45 seconds.
Rung triage to be told to take a bath and wait until they were every 3 minutes and lasting for a good 60 seconds.
By half 7, I couldn't cope anymore at home and arrived at hospital by 8pm.

I was examined - after being put in a room and left and my husband had to get someone as I was feeling the need to push.

First thing she asked was when my last ante natal appointment was. I said 38 weeks. She said "This babies breech and you are 6cms"
I was shocked. I had my heart set on a water birth and now it looked like a section.
So off they wheeled me to the delivery ward, to be told that I had to decide if I wanted a section or vaginal delivery.
They scanned to make sure he was breech and by now my contractions were every 1-2 minutes. Gas and air is amazing stuff though!

I just couldn't think straight, I was in so much pain - but coping - and I had this huge decision to make. Both me and my husband eventually decided on a section. Then on my next contraction, I felt a real urge to push. Doctor examined me again and I was fully dilated.

So, I just decided lets go for it and after some hefty pushing - and an episiotomy, Michael was born, at 22.52. (only an hour and 8 minutes from being a due date baby, not that it matters, but would have been nice)

We were team yellow - but of course knew before he was actually born that he was a boy as that was the first thing to come out.
I remember hearing my husband say "Is that what I think it is?" to the doctor.
I decided to ignore it though and wait until he was born to actually get excited that we had a son (We both really wanted a boy)

So everything was just fine in the end... I don't blame my midwives as such, I was all bump and he must have had a very hard bum, making it feel like a head.

I am sure I have missed loads out but wanted to tell you what happened.
Will post a pic soon.

Big congratulations on your baby boy hun! :) Sorry to hear you found out he was breech....but so fantastic it all worked out okay! :) look forward to seeing a pic xxx

Congrats on your arrival :-)
My DD was undiagnosed breech too. Only discovered on day 2 of induction when they broke my waters and felt a bum not a head! My hospital advised a section. I could have pushed for natural but I didn't feel confident.
Glad your LO arrived safely.
I'm now preg with no 2 and have same midwife. She apologised again about getting it wrong but I was also seen by 3 other midwives during induction who also missed it, DD must have a bum shaped head :-)

Well done you on a natural breech birth, just goes to show it CAN be done!! Congrats!! X

Congratulations and well done you on a natural breech delivery! It must have felt like an absolute whirlwind but at least you didn't have too long to get yourself worried about being breech!! Sounds like you did brilliantly x
