Just been to see the midwife, I'm 28 weeks today but baby is measuring 31 weeks!! Anyone else had this?? Is he/she going to be mahoosive ????!!!! ️Xxx

I measured 3cm ahead for the last few weeks, went 11 days over and my LO was only 8lb 7oz.
It depends how baby is lying and how much fluid etc there is xx

Hi Julies, first of all dont panic! If she has measured your fundal height there are a lot of factors that can throw it off (movement of baby in uterus, how much youve eaten recently and even how accurate they are with finding the pubic bone and top of your uterus)

I have always been 1cm +/- from gestation and theyve never been concerned, did your midwife sound concerned?

The only way to be sure is through a scan and even then measurements can be inaccurate due to sonographer accuracy, baby breathing patterns etc but they indicate growth better than your fundal height.

I've had this, been measuring three weeks ahead sinice they've been measuring me. My baby is likely to be a whopper cos my son was 9lbs and they say generally second babies are bigger! Due to measuring ahead I've had two scans to check my fluid levels. I've also had a glucose tolerance test to rule out diabetes. Both have been ok and tI've been told it's likely I'm having a large baby.

Ditto littlemonkey, current weight est 7lb 6oz at 37+1...and still growing...boy does my bak n hips feel it lol...

I had too much fluid round my last baby and am wondering if this is going to be the case again. I've been booked for a growth scan in three weeks so I guess I'll find out more then ️xxx

I had several additional scans with DS due to an anomaly found at 20w scan.

Fundal height measured "correct" each appointment, and I was told at a scan that baby could come early, but if he made it to term, he'd be around 9lb.

He came on his due date, bang on 6lb.

As someone said, fundal height is NOT all that accurate for a variety of reasons.
Even a scan is only an educated guess at babys weight. Xx

This is it. They will use it as part of other tests and measurments to see if there is anything of concern. It's not necessarily something to worry about on its own.
