MC testing

Well guys you know me, i do like my research and info

So me and Hubby are going for our blood tests tomorrow, i have to give 10 samples and he has to give one. typical men getting the easy route
My cousin who is midwife in the unit said we are so lucky to have the consultant we have as none of the others would even consider testing till after 3 MC. But as our doc says what the point in waiting and causing more heartache and even if they find nothing at least we can go ahead with peace of mind.

All the tissue that wwas removed from D&C was sent for genetic testing and thats what hubbys blood test is for too. This is to check that we are not passing down any gentetic problems.

So its blood tests first and then if they are clear and they find chromosome abnormalities with babies then we will have answers. she said she would do a HSG as well just to make sure of no problems there.

So just been doing a bit of research incase anyone else is about to go through the same.....

This list includes tests which may be offered.

• Chromosomal analysis: (a) of blood from both parents (karyotype) (b) of the baby (fetal karyotype)
• Lupus anticoagulant and anticardiolipin antibodies (antiphospholipid syndrome)
• Other immunological investigations
• Hormonal blood tests
• Investigations of the anatomy of the uterus (womb) and cervix
• Tests for infection
• Research investigations

Will get the results end of may. most of the tests will be back before that but the genetic ones will take about 6 weeks.

I've just looked this up................as someone with Lupus and now 2 MC's I find it incredible that this hasn't been mentioned before, especially as I suffer from regular heavy nosebleeds, bleeding gums and rashes.

Will be speaking to my doctor tomorrow.

Thats interesting Cazza, I'm suprised your dr has mentioned this, i would go straight in and ask about it, i think the treatment for this is asprin and heprin injections, and treatment is very effective.

you are so lucky to be getting seen after 2. i had some bloods done after my 3rd and they were all fine was waiting for a date to come to see specialist but found out i was pregnant the same month got te date to go. so now i have just had number 4 they said ill be sent another date to me seen again but i have to wait 6 weeks cos they said they want every thing to settle and get back to normal first. drives me mad i just want to be seen and get sorted your doctor sounds fab xxxxxxxx

Aww hayles you have had a tough time. My luck is due to where i am, no specialists no clinic. you are under a consultant at midwifery unit at hopsital as soon as you are preg, there are only 2 consultants and they do all the fertility and gyne medical and surgical, no waiting lists.

How did the D&C go? i had mine on friday and all went well. Did they send for genetic testing? sorry for all the questions, you dont have to answer if you dont feel up to it.

Glad your bloods came back ok, will they send you for HSG or anything now?hope your appointment comes through quick. let me know how you get on. xxx

yer had mine friday aswell. it went fine wasnt as scary as i thought it would be. hopes your went well? am still feeling a little crampy are you? not sure if thats normal or not its nothing to bad but i can just feel its there. yer there doing the genetic testing then they said they want to do the blood tests again because it was only my gp who did last ones they want to do there own. they still havnt testes my boyfriends blood yet so they said that that will be one of the first thing s they do this time aswell. there just so slow and you really have to chase them up all the time which i hate doing but i think there pretty slow round here in are hospitals xxx

Ye mine went fine, this was my second so kinda knew what to expect. ye i was a bit crampy last night, but its totally normal. Not bleeding very much but i think last time it came and went for a few days then spotting for about 12 days. neg hpt 2 weeks after then got AF 32days after D&C.

Thats good that they are doing all the tests and doing your OH's blood this time.

Me and OH are going tomorrow afternoon to get all ours done, Think the genetic tests take quite a while to come back. I would just keep phoning till you get an appointment, i'm just annoying like that though

So sorry to hear what you've gone through, nurse. I've only just caught up and read what happened. Hope you're doing ok and glad that you're being seen promptly by the doc. Fingers' crossed they'll discover what's happening and get you sorted asap xxxx

Hey ladies

Everything went fine thanks princess, had to wait half an hour for dr to come take my blood as I'm quite difficult to get, small thin veins. Needles don't really bother me though, had to give 10 sample bottles some of the results will be in soon but genetic ones take around 6 weeks, oh also got his bloods done too, was nice to not be the only one getting the needle for a change.

Oh we are just about same age then hayles, not starting to feel old just yet

I'm glad it all went well hun what are you intending to do within that 6 weeks? I mean do you think you''ll TTC or try to avoid it until you get your results? x

No we will wait till we get our results and take it from there, feel happy about taking a wee break once we get the results will take it from there, if they find nothing with bloods and a chromosome abnormality with babies (sent for testing too) then they will give us all clear but if nothing found with babies I will prob have a HSG to check for problems in uterus.x

Well at least you'll be able to relax for a while now without the ttc stresses etc. Hopefully all is clear and it's just something like aspirin that u need. Doesn't make the losses any easier but at least u could move forward with confidence x
