May 2014 Mummies

Oh goodness I totally understand babes it's just such an awful place to b and I'm hoping that it's good news at ur booking in scan hun... The fact that the lines were strong on wed is a very gd sign I'm sure xx

Oh MrsT what a stressful time. I wish I had some advice or answers but I don't have any experience of it. I just want to wish you all the best and I hope the fact the baby has grown is a good sign for you. Xxxx

Hi I'm sorry ur going through this I know exactly how ur feeling I had to go through exactly the same thing with my first loss, I wasn't sure if fates due to me missing period but having neg. test but bk then I wasn't obsessed. I just thought ok it's neg that's that then I missed another af so tested got Bfp 2 days later started spotting and got a scan the following Wednesday , wen I went they said I was 5 weeks all could see was sac ok I can go with that went the next week there had been minimal growth of sac and was start of fetal pole but the measurements didn't seem right so had to go back next week and even tho was slight growth and I should have been around 8 weeks then I was only measuring 5.5 :( and the sac was collapsing so it was never going to be viable so that was the end of that for me but I have read gd stories of similar so it can go either way it's 50/50 , I have everything crossed for you and I hope next week wen u go they can find a little baba with a strong hb xx

Hey mrs t, a fetal pole of 4.2mm would suggest 6w + 4, apparently the fetal pole starts to show at 6w and grows at a rate of 1mm per day (this is not 100% accurate as babies grow at different rates and tend to catch up at 11 weeks hence being able to date at 12w. My DS grew 11mm over 4days at 8w+2 - 8w+6. Also the LMP is just an estimate, as once the egg is fertilised it can take up to 2 weeks for it to implant. Really hope this helps you to feel a little more positive.

As for me, my baby is obviously enjoying scaring me, 4th early scan, baby is still fine, they want me to see my gp to see what to do about my aspirin though.

JoJo thank you, I really appreciate your honesty i don't want people beating round the bush id rather know all eventualities then I can go as prepared as possible next Thursday. I'm guessing with you saying there was minimal growth on your 2nd scan but in ten days with me the fetal pole has appeared and had grown to 4.2mm I'm going to try and take it as a positive sign. The nurse did say they wouldn't say it was a failed pregnancy till the baby was measuring 7mm with no heartbeat so my little tinker has time.

Sproglett - thank you for that reassurance that does kind of make sense to me. I guess all of these pregnancies are so different i can see why the nurses daren't say anything just yet.

Fab news about your scan! Really am pleased for you, they seem to want to be giving us the scares ATM lol.

I'm just sat with an excel spreadsheet, made my own calendar and have written all the times we DTD, got BFPs, what CBD says etc. I've worked out I didn't get what I think was IB until 7-10 after DTD so that may have delayed me a little. If they are putting me at 6 weeks that is the first time we DTD this cycle with the last time being 6 days after that (as hubby was then away for two weeks).

Oh dear mind going into overload lol

Xx

That's brilliant news sproglet I'm glad everything was OK x

Yer I would also want honesty aswel it as u say ur lo has grown mine didn't grow much at all over 2 weeks so it does sound possitive but also be prepared which I'm sure u will be , sproglet that's gd news so happy al is still ok xx

Went for my scan today at epu, i thought I was 9 weeks 3 days. They put me back to around 6 weeks!!! I am so confused like you Mrs T. They said the heartbeat was very slow and I have to go back next week to see if any improvements. It's horrible not knowing:(

Aww Lisa I can completely understand what your going through! I should be 8+1 today if we go by the normal workings. All I can say is at least there's a heartbeat! And fingers crossed for the next scan xxxxx

So glad for sproglet, and sorry to hear that others are having a rough time with early scans. I can't say I've experienced them, I wasn't offered one with this pregnancy and with my mcs they just scanned to confirm I was losing. As I understood it though, like sproglet says, apart from the time when implantation happens possibly being late, which might mean dates didn't add up, dates on early scans are notoriously unreliable, partly because babies grow at fferent rates up til 12 weeks and partly because its quite difficult to get accurate measurements early on. I know it was over 30 years ago now, but my mum had an early scan with me and was given one set of dates which completely changed with her 12 week scan - at first I was 'due' in june, then I was put back to late april and finally moved forward to early may at another scan - I arrived one day after my third due date :-) this happened with most of my brothers too

I've been a bit quiet here as the sickness has hit me square in the jaw. I wasn't able to make it to work on Thursday or Friday as was being sick constantly. I seemed a bit better on Saturday and Sunday and went back today. Wasn't too bad in work but the drive home this evening was brutal - I was nearly sick in a McDonalds bag while driving.

Still feeling very tired too but trying to remain positive that these things are all good signs (although it's hard when your heads down the loo and you heaving so bad you pee yourself).

Got my scan date through for the 29th October but need to phone them as hubby not able to that time. I could go myself but he wants to be there and I'm scared they give me bad news and I'm by myself.

I'm finally talking to my midwife tomorrow after she's been off for a few days! I'm 10 + 4 weeks and still haven't had a date arranged for my scan but we should be doing that tomorrow. I really hope they can squeeze me in, don't think I can wait any longer! (Almost feel like saying because they lost my paperwork, they should try their hardest as I've been so patient) Nightmare!!

Hi fao  welcome of the forum. I am an older mum at 41 too :-) This will be my 1st if all goes well with this pregnancy. Xx

Thanks Katkin. I saw a thread for "older mums" and they were all in their thirties!!

Any other over 40s on here?

Not got the hang of this forumthingy yet. You all seem like seasoned pregnancy professionals!!
Had 3 kids but years ago - before t'internet almost!! I'm so out of touch with new maternity processes and tests.
Real prob understanding the shorthand. All sounds Chinese to me! Been trying to read and take it all in. Words like CM, POAS, FRER, Mmc, and BD, and so many more. Wish there was a glossary of terms on a sticky thread. Help!

Don't panic too much. You will have to be scanned before 14anyway so even though you haven't got your scan date at the moment (me either btw) you will be put as higher priority to someone who's doing their booking in at 7-9weeks. Can't believe try lost your paper work :-( that sucks, once I had a booking I kept all my paperwork - hope they sort something soon x

That 4 times up per night for a pee story is awful :/ Amelie is sleeping through the night and I spent 3/4 of the night awake...baaaah
I hope everyone is ok xx
