How do i go about finding out how long i will recieve full pay when I start my maternity leave ?

I currently have no contract ..... so can not check this (even though I have asked my employment twice for one)

I also feel now that my employment knows im pregnant they will alter this to suit themselves !!

I have checked on the gov.uk website which states I will only recieve 6weeks at 90% and 33 weeks at 136 pounds per week.

Im sure another emplyee in my work recieved 90% of her pay for more than 6weeks .....how can i check this ???

How are people supposed to live on this .......DISGRACE !!!

It just depends on your company policy. On the governments website you can check what your statutory maternity pay will be. I work for the nhs and I get 8 weeks full pay, 18 weeks half pay plus stat maternity and then I'm taking the remainder on just stat. Taking 9 month in total. I think this is quite good compared to some private companies, and it depends on how long you've been employed.

It's depends on company policy. I'm taking 9 months and for the 1st 6 months I get full pay and then for the last 3 months I get 50% pay but then on my 3rd month back at work I will get the remainder of my last 3 months back by check. But if I don't return back to work on time I will have to pay it all back x

The company policy will determine what you will get.

The 90% for 6 weeks then SMP afterwards is the minimum you will receive. They have no obligation to give you any more.

You could request a copy of their maternity policy in writing

But could they not just change this now becky to the basics ?? is there anyway I could find out what the other employee in my work recieved ? as im pretty sure she got more than that .x

I get 6 weeks 90% and then 12 weeks half with maternity then 21 just maternity x

It is possible they've had a policy change since then (even if shes still on leave now) so I'm afraid you may be entitled to no more than the minimum.

In large. Companies its very transparent what u get where I am (although im not entitled as only a temp sadly) they pay 6months full pay!!!. Sadly ill.only get statutory of £520a month which works ok for us.
But my previous company was small and each case was different sadly..but they were a bit back handed.
Most companies would add extra on to the statutory pay im sure but u would need to ask

I found a contract which states I recieve 8 weeks full pay, 18 weeks at 50% and SMP for the rest as im only taking 9months off .

Better than I first thought x

I get £100 every fortnight and I've had to borrow money of my grandma to pay off my over draft so i don't have charges xxx

I get less than smp as I don't earn much! With child benefit it'll be about what I earn now. After it runs out that's when it gets scary!!!! My contract ends so no job to go back to and wouldn't earn enough to pay childcare. I'm sure we'll manage somehow! Xx

I get the minimum that they have to give you too, 6 weeks with 90% then stat maternity pay for 33 weeks. Disgusting that they expect our OHs to keep us when we have paid our taxes to have time off :( hate asking for money xx

I agree Jess I think its terrible that people with no employment will receive more money , very disgusting how employed mums are treated.

Unemployment benefits are far worse than maternity pay. I only get basic SMP, but I've chosen to put myself in this position so we're saving now to help fund it. The money ill be paid over the 9 months I feel I've "earned" through paying taxes for so many years, but they really don't provide anymore than the bare minimum (as it should be). If they did, people would be incentivised to take advantage!
