Hi ladies,

Im just over 8 wks, with my first, and continually gobsmacked at my ever growing waist line already. I've had a scan so know twins arent an issue, so am really baffled as to why I am already finding it difficult to find clothes to fit! I have been eating more to curb the nausea, but not that much more to be putting on as much as I am!

I would understand if this was my 2nd, but at this rate, people are going to be guessing before we tell them at 12 weeks!!

Please reassure me and tell me im not alone, and also is it alright to start buying maternity clothes already??!!

I look forward to hearing from any other rapidly enlarging mums-2-be!! :)

ur lucky if ur showin already lol i dint show with my 1st till bout 18 weeks, but im showin already with this one :cheer:

I had to buy some maternity bits almost straight away (8 wks) as my jeans and skirts were just too uncomfortable. I've found that my normal size jeans but in maternity still fit me now but the tops I bought 1st I have had to buy bigger ones now, also a dress I bought and wore for a wedding at about 20 wks dosnt fit on bust now!!!!

I loved buying maternity bits, made it all more real! and this was 1st pregnancy past 8 wks!

I'm expecting my first. I was in maternity clothes at 6 weeks!!
Everyone is different though, some people are 8 weeks, a friend of mine is 18 weeks today and only started wearing them a fortnight ago!! I loved it though to be honest...aww maternity clothes, I'm having a baby type thing!! :cheer:

I havent bought anything yet as im not showing, but I am a size 14 so maybe wont show up for a while. I am really looking forward to buying clothes though.

Any recommendations on shops???

M xx

I have just had to start buying maternity clothes at 7.5 weeks as I am huge already. I had to go for an early scan as they suspected it was twins I was so big but it isn't. The midwife said that some women can grow really big at the very beginning and then won't change much until about week 20. It is hard as I am worried everyone just thinks that I am fat but when I went to tell my boss she said that she had already guessed and that several other people were thinking the same! I don't like people knowing before 12 weeks but my scan was fine and I don't think there is much point in hiding it now.

it really is different for everyone.

im only just starting to find it hard to find things to fit. mainly my tops which are now turning into crop tops

I too have had to buy a new wardrobe!!! With my first pregnancy I didn't show until 3/4 months, but my tummy is so big and round already and I am only 8 weeks, it seems mad, but apparently it happens as your body prepares itself. My midwife said it is very common with the second child!!!

I have bought a lot of maternity clothes from Ebay, Choice (Next seconds outlet), H&M and a couple of bits from Mothercare (in the sale). All of these were reasonably priced e.g. from £5-10 for tops and £10-15 skirts/trousers.

Some other shops like New Look and Primark are also selling cheap tops which can double up as maternity depending on your size/taste. Smocks are quite fashionable at the moment. :D

Happy Shopping!

I dread getting dressed in the morning because you have to try on loads of stuff just to find that you can't squeeze yourself into anything anymore. All I can say is thank god for maternity clothes!
