I applied for MA a few weeks ago, after I found out I make about £10 less than the required amount to get SMP. Does anyone know how long I need to wait before I hear anything? I gave my due date (Aug 18) as the day I'm starting my leave.
Sorry for the late response. I've been telling myself (all week to call), but instead I got a letter from them today lucky me, what they are going to pay is a bit higher than my take home pay (you choose which months statements to send them and they base their payments on that- my income is slightly variable, so I sent them the highest ones I had)! Now I just need to tell them when I am officially on mat leave.
As far as I know, it's just going to be £108. (Don't have the papers with me at the moment) £138 is the max amount you can get per week. If I was on smp, then it would have been £138, as I think that is the min you get, but I didn't make enough to qualify for it.
I've just applied for Maternity Allowance but I'm self-employed so I think it's slightly different! I sent the form off on Monday, hopefully I'll hear back soon...
MA is a max of 138.18 or 90% of your wages which ever is the least amount. So if you earn £120pw normallly you would only be entitled to £108pw. Plus it's the same amount for all 39 weeks unlike smp xx
Even SMP can be lower than £138.18pw. If you earn £111pw and have worked for your employer for more than 26weeks by the time your 25weeks then you qualify. But at £111pw you would get 90% of your wages at £99.90pw xx
My contract was only temporary and even though ive now finished work (teaching so its summer hols) my contract only officially ends 31st august. I just managed to qualify for smp but am yet to hear amounts so hoping they are good as we havent budgeted for any less than 138 a week :-/ xx
I work in a school too, with a contract ending the last day of august. So I've declared I'm not starting leave until my due date because I will be paid until then.
