Hi,
Quick question for anyone that can help with a maternity allowance question.
I am currently on a fixed term contract which expires of 24 August, 1 week short of my 15 weeks before EWC which means i dont qualify for SMP. Annoying. Assuming my work wont extend my contract on account of being pregnant does anybody know if I would qualify for maternity allowance through the government?
I have been employed since April 4th 2010 - August 24th 2012, so way over the 26 weeks in 66 weeks qualifying period for MA. my confusion is, do you have to STILL be employed at the point of the maternity allowance kicking in, or is it simply you must have worked 26 weeks within 66 weeks?
I have read the direct.gov.uk website but am left more confused.
