Hi Ladies,

when do we get the MAT B1?

Will they release it in the first appointment at the hospital? (before the first scan)?

Hi

You usually get it just before 25w at your midwife appointment x

It's usually 25 weeks, that's when I got mine last time, don't think they can give it out until after your 20 week scan x

I think I was well over 20 weeks when I got mine! X

I was told it would be given at the 28 week appointment with the midwife, but I could request it at the 25 week appointment with the GP, who gave it to me with no issues.

If you need it sooner for employment reasons, have a chat with your midwife and see what they can do?

I rang the doctors and all they can do is write a letter to confirm pregnancy which costs £30

I have no choice so requested this

My employer (and all previous) just took my word for it that I'm pregnant - why does your employer need a letter? X

No, my employer isnt asking.

Basically, O/h has kicked me out after a massive row and Im currently living in a night shelter accommodation.

In order to be considered priority for the local housing register, I need evidence that I am pregnant.

Legally the Matb1 can't be issued before 20 weeks. Sorry you're in this situation x

Oh my goodness I'm so sorry to hear this. I can't believe your doctor would charge for a letter in the circumstances. Take care and I hope you get accommodation sorted xx

Thank you Ladies,

Oh how the tables can turn eh. Such is life, Im a mentally strong person and there's nothing that can bring me down. My only concern is this baby growing inside me and this is my only priority :)))

I made an appointment with my doctor for when i was 20 weeks as i had no up coming midwife appointments at that time & i had to give notice to my employer, I did ask the hospital to issue it at my 20 week scan but they said that they didn't issue them there, This was only last year.

Oh no so sorry ive just seen the situation that you are in, Hope that you get some housing sorted soon, Please let us know how you are doing X

This is so awful. Why wouldn't they consider your scan photo as evidence? They have the date on them don't they? And your name is at the top.
