Hi hun
sounds like there are lots of silly reasons not to have a 'wedding' but no reason why you shouldnt be 'married'!
if a big wedding causes hassel would you be happy to get married but just simple ceremony and a meal withe close friends and family?
i can undersatand if you want your big wedding though - every little girl dreams of it! but at the end of the day its the being married part that matters.
so if you want your big day then try telling him that who cares who fights with who on the day - you'll be married - thats what the day was meant to achieve and thats what you'll do!

My dh's family are a bit mad and tend to cause a lot of arguements so I worried about getting married loads because I didn't want it in front of my family as they are very reserved. In the end I sat down with my husband and told him how I felt and found that he actually agreed with me. In the end we decided it was our day and not our family so we went abroad and did it just the two of us. We had two witnesses and us and it was the best day of my life!
At the end of the day hun it's about what you both want and if anyone is going to ruin it then tell your fiance you don't want them there. Maybe he'll feel more at ease knowing they are not there? I think all men get scared of marriage especially if he has seen all his family get divorced. But at the end of the day having a baby with you is far more of a commitment and life long thing than being married. I think you need to tell him exactly what you want hun because if you really want to be married it will pull you apart. Good luck

just think jenny, pictures barefooted on a lovely sandy beach. my friends got married in jamaica and it rained on the day they got married, so by the time it came to take the pictures it was a hazy day and the pictures are really lush. 
i would have loved to get married abroad but we didnt really have the money at the time, but thinking about it now ,i would have liked to save and done it abroad.

Only just seen this hunny, I have tears in my eyes, thats sweet your hubby's text back - yea to mexico - see I think that is so sweet, my Oh isn't typically romantic either - but he does things that I think are so cute that I don't need the romance.
He always gives me a kiss before he leaves, even if he is only going to put the bin out, little loving looks here and there with a smile when I feel sad, always tells me before we go to bed and as soon as we wake up that he loves me........ sometimes romance isn't just about typical romantic gestures.
Your OH sounds like a really nice guy hun, your a lucky lady x

only just got back on to see how it turned out - fab news that he is up for it - just goes to show its not marriage he was scared of just the wedding!
