Well I am fed up of taking lo out for lunch/ coffee etc and being stared at cos the buggy is too big or the babies crying or being too loud so I have decided to open a cafe especially for parents and children. Please let me know if you think that you would enjoy going somewhere that is child/ breast feeding friendly and what sorts of things you would like to see there/ facilities etc.
Thanks for your help :)

I'd love one here. My wish list would include being able to order formula along with my hot drink (think the idea of warming baby milk might be heavy on the insurance tho'), comfy sofas, wifi, mags and newspapers, healthy nutritious food for both adults and children incl purée and mashed food for weaners. A quiet area would be good for mummies and newborns too. I'm sure I could think of loads more. Good luck with it, would be interested to know how you get on x

Toilets big enough to take your pram in with you, a nice soft floor area so babies can be put down to roll play etc without having to constantly hold them... i would defiantly go to somewhere like that because im always looking for somewhere to go with LO and go to all the sure start things because im bored.

xx

Chairs with padded arms but not bucket chairs! Since formula feeding I'm sure my elbows have got bigger lol. Soup in a mug so you don't have to risk using a spoon. A communal baby changing room with more than one changing unit cos the queue would be horrendous, maybe one or two cubicle loos in there too.

And maybe recruit local mums for staff, the spotty little oiks in our local cafe couldn't give a toss about babies and have a really bad habit of leaning over prams with hot drinks or knives balanced on plates etc

Best of luck with it hun xxxxxxxx

a *really* private area for breastfeeding! A screen or something of that effect.

We have a cafe like this where I live. The front area is a regular cafe and the back is set up with regular tables, big comfy couches and a fairly large play area with toys for about 0-6 year olds. There is an area to park buggies and put carseats and is seperate from the rest of the cafe so you don't worry about the baby disturbing other customers. It serves regular cafe stuff, sandwiches etc. Many moms use it as a place to meet other moms. It is quite popular! Great idea to open one :)

Here is the link to the cafe near me http://www.twomonkeyscoffeeandteahouse.com/. Ps, I am in Canada so it's not competition :)

Chairs you can breastfeed in! ESP with a bigger wriggly baby. Maybe speak to someone like LLL and get a bf support worker who visits regularly so new mums (or old) who need bfing advice have somewhere to go (while lining your pocket) maybe also do a meet a mum group or something?

I can't really add to the ideas, but say I think a big changing around to be able to take prams in but not queue for hours is great, but also loos that are big enough for prams so Mum's can pee too!!

And maybe a book section (people can bring books they don't want anymore and can swap?).

Love the overall idea!!

Lovely idea and agree with what everyone else has said.

Only thing I can add is plenty of space between tables. The amount of cafes where tables are so crammed in you can barely walk through let alone get a pram through is unreal.

Homemade purees for people doing traditional weaning and food cut appropriately for those who are baby led weaning iykwim

Oh and possibly a sterilising station, would make things a heck of a lot easier

We've got a place near here that's a cafe/restaurant during the day, it's got a soft play area, and kids eat free. By night it's a nightclub though!! The problem with a place for kids is you need the space and that might be difficult with a cafe.

Lots of 'clean' high chairs too! I never want to sit Kynon in some high chairs they look right grubby! Sounds a really good idea, not many pram friendly baby friendly places about unless you go to a soft play place and eat go there!

Where do you live I want to come to your cafe lol....

Pretty much what everyone has said but I would like to see lots of space to manouever a bigger pushchair, or alternatively a pram park, where you can park your pram as long as its inside.

Xxxx

this sounds like a fab idea, hope all goes well xxx

Sounds fab!!

Seems like the ladies have given loads of great ideas already! I'd like loads of space between tables. Hate having to try force our way through, big toilets, a play area for older babies, defo baby friendly staff, bright colourful and interesting for younger babies to look around at, formula heating station- rather than being told you have to stand at the counter dipping the bottle into a big mug of hot water lol

What are are you? Defo don't have anything like that where I'm from xxx

Sounds like a good idea, it would be nice to go to a place where the kids menu isnt chicken nuggets or fish fingers etc as we often share are meals with lo as we dont feed him processed foods often id also recommend serving halal meat as will increase your potential customers.

Also, my LO has a dairy allergy and as I'm still BF, I'm off dairy too, so Soya milk as an option for both the adults a d maybe soya milk formula? Also, nowhere near me do dairy free wraps/cakes/muffins and they are really easy to make, so you'd potentially increase your market by offering those :) I want to visit your cafe!xx

Thank you for your fabulous ideas- any help is greatly appreciated :)

I went to ridding wakefield and they had baby changing unit with three changing spots a big couch thing for feeding and separate screened bit for bf and bottle warmers set up for heating bottles/ food. And a toilet set up for adults/ toddler seat that you could put down xx
