I'm thinking about buying some for my sister. I've heard they're good for colic & would rather get her some good bottles straight off as she won't be able to afford to keep buying different ones to test. I know you can sterilise them singularly in the microwave but if you wanted to could you sterilise them in the tt electric steriliser?

We use dr browns as they're good for colic too. We've never had a problem with it. They fit in the TT electric steriliser.

I changed from TT to MAM bottles, they fit in my TT steriliser - but without the top shelf bit.

Thanks ladies- Katherine I use the same as you but I can get the mam ones cheaper than the Dr brown & I've read equally good things about the mam Ones :)

I'm gonna give her my steriliser but will keep the bottles just incase austin won't take to his milk in a beaker!

I went to mam and question myself every day if I shouldn't have gotten the Dr' browns. Any bottle is easy to sterilize as they just need to be in contact with boiling water for 5 mins. Pop teat in the bottle fill with water put in the microwave for 5 mins. It's that easy! With anything really, same with dummies that come in a box.

The downside of mam's is that the teats are not widely available. Am not saying Dr browns does but still in my smaller boots they do not have teats or bottles! Also the dummies are not as readily available as other dummies like TT's (Although I would recommend to avoid the TT bottles like the bloody plague)

The ring in the bottom easily gets milk stains and it's a whole mission on it's own cleaning out the teats and rings. Then it's another mission to dry the bottom properly as when it's not dried or there's water in between them it leaks very very easily(it also defeats the anti colic purpose that way). There's nothing more disgusting than leaking milk! This is also the case when the venting thing on the teat rips and it comes pouring out from the top!

All that I wouldn't say the microwave sterilize feature makes it that brilliant as the other parts of the bottles make them seem like a mission! Before all I knew this my little one was used to the teats so there was no point trying to offer another bottle! Even my sister in law didn't listen, bought herself some blue tommee tippees this week she hit the point of colic at it's worst (nothing helps no dentinox no comfort milk no nothing) and had to splash out 40£ on dr. browns. It seems people tend to be happiest about dr. browns in general. It's obviously entirely up to yourself. Perhaps mam teats and such are more widely available in your area and then that downside can be marked off the list. But that's thing I would check availability. It's just no phone running around all over the area trying to find teats when ur little one been chewing them and you need new ones!

Most brands have replacement teats etc a hell of a lot cheaper online than in shops.

Mam dummies are widely available over here but I can't say I've seen anything of tears but then again I've had to travel for my dr brown ones.

I've also had issues recently with Dr brown ones leaking tho I'm not too bothered he doesn't have 6 bottles a day anymore tho I can't fathom why!

But thank you, your post has certainly made me rethink!

We buy all our teats off amazon. We use mam self streamlining bottles but put them in our avent steriliser and hey fit great. Once or twice a week we take them apart and sterliSe all the parts separately.

I have mamm bottles, love them and sterilise in the TT microwave steriliser

I've not done the sterilizing bit for ages but every single time, I don't dry it properly and put it back together tight theres more chance of leaking. They only rip once they have plenty of teeth and start to chew on it! I have no experience with dr browns but from any bottle that leaked it usually was some water left behind or not screwed on tight enough but even on the most simplistic bottles there's usually something at the teat you need to keep an eye on. I've got an avent beaker and one from nuk with soft spouts and they have venting bit too that easily blocks! Can't wait until it's solely straw cups and free flows that do not end up with its contents out everywhere but in his belly lol!

Yeah the mamm bottles will only leak if not screwed on tight enough or if the white rubber seal isn't pressed in enough, I like them as the teats don't bend like the tommee tippee ones and they fit better in my baby bag!

I used mam bottles and don't have any complaints other than what has been mentioned above.
I'm sure you can sterlise more than one bottle at a time in the microwave though. x

MAM bottles were the only thing to solve my LO feeding problems. 3 minutes for one bottle and 1 minute extra for every other bottle - much preferred microwaving them as meant could get rid off my hefty steriliser! X

I'm starting to wish that Id never bought tommee tippee everything now! I've bottles (6), quite a few soothers, the microwaveable sterliser, the storage tops to go on top of the bottles, the milk powder dispensers & some bibs now I'm thinking IT is all going to go to waste & I can't afford to not use them :(

I've tried.. tomme tippe.. tommee tippe anti colic.. then dr browns (too expensive and bulky) then switched too mam self sterilising and havn't looked back.

Great bottles, reduces wind in the milk considerably, self sterilising so no need for a steriliser and never ever had a problem with them leaking.

Can't you return it? My sister in law just spent another 40 on dr. browns after the tommee tippee advance bottles didn't work (I warned her all through pregnancy! But she was adamant in getting blue bottles!)

I mean mam's are alright, much much better and improvement from tommee tippee. It just has it's downsides, well for me it has. We've only had leaks on the bottom bit when theres either water in between bottom and ring that obvs stops it from being able to put in right or where it's screwed on again a little water can make the difference in it not wanting to be screwed on tight.. Most times it doesn't leak, but it is a nightmare when it does and I have to put a lid on turn it up side down and dry it (again). Although it's more of nightmare when my man does it he screws em on so tight I can't get em apart because it's so tight and I need to clean them:lol:

You can sterlizer multiple mam bottles in the microwave at once we do three at a time for five minutes as that's what is says on the box we got :). Would that be the same as a microwave sterilized? Btw I love mam bottles so quick and easy!

No as I bought them in the Asda baby event when they were £10 I think I've only got 6 bottles & the steralizer was the same price I think but I don't think it matters what type of those I've got! The soothers hopefully should be okay but I'm only going to use them if i feel like my LO needs one & the bottle warmer should be fine I got gifted anotjer type of bottle warmer that will be for my moms
