I'm a first time mum to be and there seems to be a lot of mixed messages about preparing bottles. Could someone maybe post on here how they make their baby's bottle up and the process they use for heating up a night time bottle as i don't want to have to be getting up through night and preparing a bottle at a time.

Thanks:wall2:

I'm abit naughty but do it the old way. I make all his bottles up in one go so 6 at a time then store in the fridge. On a night time I stick the bottle in the microwave to warm it. Make sure it's not too hot but it's better than waiting for the kettle with a crying baby. Both my kids have been fine with the way I do it even though your not meant to do it that way!

Yep same here!

:) if it causes no harm what's the bother. Can i ask when you boil the kettle and let it cool do you then add the formula to the water. For night time feeds i was thinking of putting water that had been boiled in one of those bottle warmers to keep it warm and then just add the formula when needed but is it safe to do this? I have no clue!

Yep completly safe! When I'm out I take boiled water and a tub that holds the right amount of powder then mix when needed.
When making the bottles normally, I boil the water then add the powder 30mins after

i do same make 6 bottles in one go only i dont heat mine she has at room temp as it saves faffin around just take out of fridge untill needed

Ok thanks lacey that's reassured me a little. Don't want to be poisoning LO in first go lol!

I premake mine too, just heat the milk up in the microwave then. When I go out I take an empty bottle or two and use cartons. I also take a flask of hot water as well to heat it up as he likes it warm x

I just boil the kettle and pour the water in and reheat the water and add the powder as and when its needed however i premade them with Jacob and he was fine but I used to chuck loads away !!

yeah in the morning I make up my daytime bottles and at night I make up my night time bottles and heat it in the bottle warmer but since everyone else seems to be using the microwave al give that a go tonight.

As for going out I put preboiled water in the bottles and then I put the powder in the wee storage containers that fit in the tommee tippee bottles and I have the tommee tippee flask too so I take that with boiling water in it, heat the water in the bottle then add the formula so it mixes properly. If im just popping round to my mums or up to tesco and think that Ellie might need a feed I heat up the bottle to its overly warm and put it in the tommee tippee insulating bottles bags and then by the time she needs it it is the right temperature xx

during the day we make them as we go, unless we're going out when we will put colled boiled water in a bottle with a lid and then take our tin of milf HOWEVER we have tiny tins. At night, we make up however man we think he might be after during the night and store them in the fridge. when J wakes up we run downstairs and boil the kettle (which already has enough water in) and then take bottle out of the fridge put it in a jug and then pour in thhot water with it. Take it upstairs and then change J etc and by the time hes sorted the bottle is warm!! xx

i make up 6 at a time, normally in the evening,

i stick the bottles in the steriliser and boil the kettle and then make them up about 10 mins after the kettles boiled, and then they are in the top shelf of the fridge, Laylas really good and will drink them straight from there :) and doesnt like them warmed,

if we are going out ( to parents or friends houses) we take a pre-made bottle and stick it in there fridge, but if were shopping or what ever take cartons (shes on aptimil formula) cos its just easier and ive had leaky premade bottles twice now so wont risk it again!

my lil girls fine, and this is what my mum did with me 23yrs ago, n im ok too :)

HV's dont really like it, but there not the one up at midnight with a crying baby waiting for the kettle to boil!!

xxx

Sorry for being thick but do u boil water then put in bottles and keep in fridge and add mi just before heating?

We premake our bottles for the during the day and pop them in the fridge. For the night time ones I bought those wee Tommee Tippee tubs that fit in the bottles, add the boiling water to the bottles and fill the tubs with the right amount of scoops and then make the bottles up in the night and then the boys can just drink them at room temperature.

Same :)

I do it one of two ways depending on how Oliver is feeling a bit peckish or ravenouse lol - I boil kettle, pour into bottles (4 at a time) leave to stand at room temp then add powder as n when needed. If hes crabby but not hysterical i will boil water n add a warm ounce but if hes on a major starving rampage i will just bang the powder in and feed at rom temp. :) Hes sick no matter which way i do it lol but takes both just as good!
