just wanted to know you know hen the kettle has boiled and gone cold do you make the formula then re heat, boil kettle again fully or just warm up slightly in the kettle?

I use the cooled water to make the formula, then warm through if necessary by putting the bottle in a jug of warm water.

You shouldn't re-boil previously boiled water for formula, something to do with electrolytes :? I'm not sure why!

I can't wait until I can knock this sterilising lark on the head TBH!

i know me neither, is it ok to warm up in the microwave?

You're not supposed to, because of 'hot spots' but I know loads of people who do.

I think you have to shake it loads though :D

yeh i only boil kettle once to make up bottles, then wack sterilser on & after about an hour i make up the bottles, but never re boil, i am really paranoid about that.
if anyone re - boils the kettle while i am waiting to make botles without realising i have boiled it i go absoloutely spare
& then i tip all the water out & start again

also i never use the microwave to heat milk & i have had 3 babies & never done this even though most of my friend do/have.
like minxy said its supposed to have hot spots in the milk.

I boil and make the bottles with the hot water. but if i am watching the telly i will only leave the water for 30 mins if longer i start again with fresh water. never boil twice.

And i use the microwave for ellis bottles now he is bigger and never had a problem. just shake well before giving it to her and leave a few mins in case there is any hot bubbles xxxxx

I always used to boil the water for Charlies bottle is the micro!! I used to hate seeing limescale in the kettle water

I warm the bottles in the micro, but Jakob likes his bottles room temp so if they are out of fridge and cold i will only put them in micro for 30 secs so they are never really warm so no risk of hot spots...il only boil kettle once and i treat limescale with citric acid (same as in steriliser) every 2 weeks
