Make-up During Labour!

What happened belfa?

I was annoyed to have a bath rather than shower but it was fine apart from a million degrees and i needed help to get out. After pressong the buzzer they didnt come for aaaages - glad i didnt pass out!

I am pregnant with my 3rd so I know after the first time make up wasn't a good idea for me personally. But I still go get full leg and Brazilian wax about a week before due date. Have painted nails/toenails and I apply fake tan. First time I wore minimal make up but I still ended up with panda eyes. Don't worry about having hair done, just keep it tied up, you'll be hot.
Just do what you want to do, if you go into labour during the day, may as well take your mind off it for a little while by doing your make up. :)

I think it's probably easier slapping some on when you finished giving birth rather than have it on before... and I would say that nail polish is an absolute no no in case you end up in theatre. They look at your finger nails in case you don't any any oxygen and the nails turn blue.

I just do my usual regime - if I went into labour with make up on then fine - if not I would not go out of my way to put it on.

First boy induced, make up wasnt on because I was prepping for labour and knew there would be little point. Shower, hair done and make up done when I got out though.

Likewise for second boy - natural pool labour, no make up required - but after shower and make up I got home and make up went on whilst I was waiting for my lift and Carter slept. No biggie.

Labour for sure isn't glamorous but a part of labour is how you feel during and after and if having a bit of make up on helps then go for it - its you giving birth no one else. I do my tinted moisturizer every other day anyway - I get my eyebrows done and I get waxed, although that isn't being glamorous that is me grooming myself generally on the daily.

IMO we dont feel as ship shape and shiney after it - if the makeup helps fine. I didnt give a rats arse 'how' I looked it was how I felt, and smelt probably! I couldnt never sit there like a bag of shite hair all over the place, but its understandable for those who can in that moment :)

I thought I would do my makeup hair etc as I never went anywhere without my face on. However, after being in labour for 18 hours before even leaving to go to the hospital by that point the contractions were so strong it was the last thing on my mind after my shower. I lost 2 litres of blood whilst giving birth to my daughter so was completely anemic and pale in my first pics with my daughter but I love them. Since giving birth I rarely wear makeup I've become so much more comfortable in my own skin and now I feel so much more glamorous when I do make the effort. I think everyone has the thought of perfect pictures where they look like their usual self but realistically you'll cherish the pictures regardless and so will your child as they grow older :-)

Oh I was fine health wise, think I had a bath and shower combo, it was just the sheer mass of blood I left trailing in my wake
