pack plenty of snacks in your hospital bag.

Just thought I'd mention it because when I was in labour I arrived at hospital 9am, they gave me a cheese sandwhich at about 12 and then 2 slices of toast after I'd given birth at 5pm, then that was it until 8 the next morning. Luckily my mum had bought some packet sandwichs and chocolate and flapjacks which I took onto the ward with me and ate in the night, otherwise I'd of been starving. Especially as I didn't get chance to eat my breakfast because Jaida was attatched to my breast constantly for about 2 hours after they brought it, then midwifes and doctor came round etc.

I'm seriously going to have to put a note or something on the fridge of last minute things before I head off to hospital :wall: I keep forgetting to buy food for labour.

Thanks Jodes x

I've experienced hospital food before so have packed biscuits and DH is under instructions to make ham and tomato sandwiches when I go into labour and got a little cool bag.

Last time I had an op I got there at 7am (couldn't eat before) had op at 12noon and was let out at 4pm and all that time wasn't offered food. I had to ask in the end and I wanted a banana or some other kind of fruit but of course nothing healthy on offer so ended up with a nurse giving me and the others on the ward 2 rich tea biscuits from the staff room and a glass of water each  . We were all starving.

Definately a good tip! My mum and dad brought me in food to eat throughout the day. We weren't allowed hot food in the ward but things like sandwiches, crisps, etc were allowed. It didn't stop the druggie mum in the bed opposite me getting her fella to bring her in a chicken kebab and eating it while feeding her son who was withdrawing from drugs!

Bananas and lucozade if you like them are great, they were rubbish food wise when I was in with Isaac, please take lotsa snacks with you ladies :D

Eeeek! I'm a growing girl, I need my food! I was planning to take:

Lucozade
Cartons of apple juice
Dried apricots
Packet of brazil nuts (LOVE these)
Digestive biscuits
Yogurt covered raisins

Oh my word! I SO have to get me some of them tomorrow!! :cheer: xx

They're so good!!! :cheer: Holland and Barrett do yogurt coated EVERYTHING lol you can get yogurt coated apricots, pineapple, peanuts, raisins, brazil nuts and banana chips! I feel a sugar rush coming on!!!

My midwife highly recommend kendall mint cake, its the stuff walkers use and apparently its a slow energy releaser or something or other so that, so better than choccy which is just a quick peak of energy that wears off quick.

However i did point out to her if i had a bit of cake and a bit of chocolate ... :D :D

MMm yogurty raisins mmm

Apparently Jaffa Cakes are supposed to be good too :D

Xxx
